Hump Day

Finally half way thru the week! Sunday turned out to be a pretty good cardio day...I ran 5 miles on Sunday(thought it was 6 but the map on the computer keeps saying 5. I think it is WRONG). Then in the late afternoon I biked 7 miles. Though the bike riding was less about cardio and more about Fruity Pebble penance. Monday was spinning...which as usual was AWESOME and then Power Hour which, and I repeat myself, was AWESOME. Tuesday did 2 miles on the treadmill. My legs were VERY tired from my Sunday and Monday workout! I finished up putting in another mile and a half on the elliptical and weight lifting. This morning I am up and suited and ready for the pool. I know you are probably tired of reading this but I HATE THE POOL. Perhaps I will not hate it so much when my NEW SWIM SUIT gets here. Yes, I found one...in the Blair catalog www.blair.com. It is everything I desired. Well almost, the shorts could have been a little longer. It is a Tankini, which is a Tank top and shorts for swimming. Darn somebody stole my million dollar idea! My new suit should be here in one week. In the meantime I am in the Process of "Kim's four easy steps to wearing a swim suit in public" The week before I wore my tank top instead of my ususal tee shirt. This week I will take off the tank tip while I am in the water and put it back on before getting out. I do not know why this bothers me so much but I just feel NAKED.

I did much better with food control this weekend. Still not good but all in all much better then ususal. This weekend I will tighten down a little harder and then gradually squeeze most of the bad out of my weekend.

Kendra's baby shower has been set for July 15, 2006. It will probably be at 1:00 pm at her new house!

Aunt Denise called me last night she is in Vegas! Wooo Hoooo Texas Hold Em all night long. I wish I could go but there are several things holding me back. 1) I don't fly 2) Don't like to spend money. I would rather spend it on running shoes and 3) Don't think I could control my gluttony when faced with unending buffets. So I guess I will have to settle for our (Denise and me) little trip to Michigan. In November I am going to Florida with Aunt Suzie to see Jamie get married. So I guess I will get some vacation fun. My poor husband his idea and my idea of fun are NOT the same thing. I drive him crazy because when we go on a trip I want to go go go and he wants to soak in the hot tub. Last time we went on vacation I lost several pounds despite eating like a pig because everytime he got in the hot tub I got on the treadmill and he LOVES the hot tub.

I have decided that I like biking and I need a better bike. It is unlikely I will get one anytime soon though. But I am going to keep my eyes open for sales and that Bike Shops. Perhaps I can squirrel away a litte $ here and there and before you know it can have $$$ to buy a bike. Don't need anything fancy since I am a novice but I would like something that does not creak and groan and will allow me to use more then 3 of the speeds.

Well time to go to swimming. Sob sob sob...I want the elliptical....Can't because someone told me I need to back off in preparation for the Hog Jog...or as call it my Piggie Shuffle. So today is swimming, tomorrow will just walk and lift and Friday participate in power hour but will avoid the running part. Hopefully with the help of a co Y person and my military cadence CD I will make it thru the Hog Jog. Because I am actually not ready for a 10k but am going thru with it anyway. I checked the weather and it going to be hot...which means I will whine and cry. I hate heat more then I hate swimming. Oops time to go!

I Puked on Daddy's Christmas Dinner

Please note that my son Jamie is not dressed in cute Christmas attire. He was. We had to put a tee shirt on him because for some reason he leaned over and puked all over his Dad's Christmas meal. Don't know if it was the excitement of Christmas or just too much junk. My mom offered to fix Jerry another plate of food he said "I'll pass". He looked a little green. Daddies are not that great with puke that is a Mommy thing.

Come See the Ducks in the Closet

On Friday husband and I went to our daughter's house to see Baby Flickard's new room. It looks really cute. Aunt Denise was there also with Amber and Abby. Abby(who is 3) was all excited about the new house and anxious to show me around (as she had just had the full tour prior to me getting there). Exicitedly she took me by the hand and said she was going to show me the Dungeon. We clattered down the steps in excitement, Abby was practically pulling me down in her haste to show me the dungeon. The dungeon was the furnance room. I went back upstairs, because I was not nearly impressed with the dungeon as she was. She then starts bouncing up and down and grabs my hand and says "Come see the Ducks in the Closet" So off Abby and I go hand in hand to the closet door. I open the closet door and there are DUCTS in the closet. Poor Abby must have been mightly dissappointed when she first got a look at the closet thinking she was going to see ducklings and all she got to see was Duct work.

Medical: Got my stitches and packing out. Ouch Ouch to the stitching removal and what a relief to have all that packing gone. My teeth are very sensative to the cold and are expected to be that way for a week or so. I took a bite of ice cream and almost jumped out of my seat. I go back in two more weeks for the Doctor to check the healing process. But so far it seems to be good.

I actually did something. Friday I ripped the baseboards out of the closet and took up the old tiles in preparation of the remodeling. Saturday was a rainy rainy day but surprisingly enough instead of laying around I actually got something accomplished. I cleaned and organized my computer room. I got all my filing done and cleaned out my closet. Which I might add was a disgusting jumble of shoes and other items. My closet is lovely now. My running shoes are all lined up like little soldiers on the shoe rack. What kind of woman am I? I have one pair of black dress shoes for work, one pair of black boots, 2 pair of casual jean shoes (black and brown) and I had 9 pair of running shoes and one pair of cross trainers. Oh I do have 2 pair of heeled sandals. After I organized my computer room and closet,I topped it off by cleaning out my junk drawer. My husband decided that I needed a sewing box after seeing the over 100 buttons I had in a tray. So he brings to me a little box for sewing items. He must think I sew because when he saw what I was going to put in the box he looked incredulous. "Is that ALL you have to put in your sewing box" "Yep that's it." He shakes his head and sighs as he puts my 100 buttons, 4 spools of thread, one package of sewing needles, one measuring tape (never used) and one thimble (also never used into my sewing box). Okay after the little organization adventure we went off to Menards to pick out tile and countertop. We had no difficulities. We agreed without argument on tile and countertop. Though he did say, "You have no idea what you like". I replied, "That's true but Iknow what I don't like" After our trip to Menards we went out to lunch. I have drawn my husband to the dark side...he went to a buffet. My husband does not particulary like to go out eat and to actually get him to a buffet...well that was amazing. I actually felt bad like I was leading him into the world of depravity and gluttony. So back home and it was not jiggity jig..it was more like "Oh don't turn the corner so fast all the food in my belly is sloshing to one side" "Ahhhh help me out of the truck I can't move" He went straight up to bed to take nap and I layed on the couch like a beached whale watching the "Corpse Bride", which was quite good I might add. Tim Burton has a very demented mind. He also did "The Nightmare Before Christmas" another excellent movie. Okay end of that day. All in all a very relaxing nice Saturday.
I now need to go for my run. My body is rebelling at the thought of running but I must as the Hog Jog is next Saturday and I am not ready. But as someone at the Y told me you can't think like that you have to think "No one is ever ready you just gotta do it". Good Motto to go by.

Dead Lift

No I have not killed anyone and had to lift their body...but I did add the Dead Lift to my weightlifting program. Fun fun...but an easy lift to do incorrectly and hurt yourself. Not a lift for beginners! I did not hurt myself doing the lift but I did almost fall off the box I had to stand on to do the lift. I am truly the most ungraceful woman in the world. You should see me get off the incline bench. Another lady at the Y told me you dismount it like you would slide off a bar stool. Being as I don't go to bars that illustration did nothing to help me and so I continue with my most ungraceful dismount. Generally if an exercise takes some type of finesse I don't do it well so Line Dancing, Aroebics, Body Shop...etc are activites I am a less inclined to participate in. I had one instructor tell me I had "Poor Body Alignment". That means I am a Klutz!
AMBER: Went to my neice's birthday party last Sunday. It is hard to believe that she is 14 years old! I took care of her from the time she was born to about 1st grade. My sister worked and I took care of Amber. She was such a good kid....and still is....despite being a "little" naughty now and then. Baby Carissa came to the party and loved the saucer and the outdoor baby swing. She is just a little heart stealer. She was a swimsuit model for the day as Aunt Denise had bought her a new swimsuit with the cutest little butt ruffle on it. She paired it with a little hat and Carissa was "Styling" big time. Tyson and Abby swam and jumped on the trampoline. I got on the trampoline with them and that was just exhausting. Those little monsters also stole the socks right off my feet while I was on the trampoline. Somehow I ended up belly down on the trampoline with a 3 1/2 and a 8 year old on my back and then the next thing you know my socks are being waved around in the air. They were just laughing up a storm...end result...one tired Grandma/Aunt Kim, One slightly bruised eye for Abby (a elbow got her in the eye). And as usually when it was time for me to get off the trampoline my dismount left much to be desired. I practically fell off the trampoline and I heard at least one one giggle in the background. I hope NO ONE got pictures of any of that!

Baby Shower: Kendra's baby shower is tentatively set for Saturday July 1, I am thinking about 2:00 but need to confirm with all before I set that time. We will be having it at Kendra's new house. Baby Flickard's room is painted now and ready to be decorated.

July 4, 2006. Will be having a cookout. Time to be announced at a later time. It will be a carry in.

Reducing Spinnation

I had to run 5 miles and I couldn't. I had to walk run walk run etc. I don't know why but my weekend runs have been unsuccessful. I think it might be my Friday workouts. On Friday I do both spinning and power hour. So that is about 2 hours of pretty intense workout. So for the next two fridays I am not going to spin. Hopefully that will allow me to get my 5.5 miles in next weekend and then next the following Saturday is the Hog Jog. I am hoping that will make a difference. I think when I start training for the Mini I probably should not spin at all but just focus on running.
TRI: I worked the Triathalon yesterday and it was awesome! My friend Barb, who goes to the Y, had a daughter in the swimming portion of the Tri. She is only 13/14 years old and she was 13th out of the water...out of at least 89 people. GO GIRL! I am so proud of her!!! She swam for a lady(Tina) who did the bike/run portion. I was so jealous...I wish I could do a tri but seeing as I can't swim, bike like crap and run a little better then I bike that I probably should put that on the shelf.
Strawberry Festival: After the triatholon I went to the Strawberry Festival with my daughter and my grandson Tyson. My daughter's friend was dancing there. It was amazing! The woman is 5 months pregnant and did the SPLITS! She also has a 3 year old daughter who came out at the end and did a little bit of dancing. They looked so cute together. When you watch Jenny dance you could just tell she "FEELS" the music. She is very talented and if she dances that well when she is pregnant she must be amazing when she is not! Ended my day of triatholon fun, strawberry festival fun, a trip to Dick's Sporting Goods (to buy yet another pair of running shoes)and a good lunch with a trip to the grocery store. Blah grocery shopping...but I was out of apples and fresh vegtables which are a primary part of my food program...so had to go.

Sunday Morning Fun: Aside from my unsuccessful run, I have cleaned my bathroom. I have the grossest bathroom in town and need House Makeover 911 to come and remodel my bathroom. I have straightened up the living room, did a couple loads of laundry and now must get ready to go to church and I would bet my paycheck that I am going to ZZZZZZZZ during church. I try not to. I drink coffee, I drink water, I tap my foot, I pinch myself but the next thing I know I go into a staring trance and the next thing I know I am feeling my husband's elbow in my rib and get a well deserved glare of disapproval. Bad Kim! I am going to my neices birthday party this afternoon and hopefully will get the closet cleaned out so my husband can put some additional shelving in our utility closest. He wants to rip out my closet but then where will I stash all my treasures? So I finally convinced him the closet should remain but we should just add some more shelving.

Kendra and Lucas: Will be getting the keys to their new house on Monday! Yeah for Kendra and Lucas! And yeah that Baby Flickard's crib, changing table and dresser will be out of my computer room and I will be able to get to my filing cabinit. Not that I really mind but my body is rebelling at the climbing and twisting it takes to get my filing done.

I DID IT!

Okay I signed up for the Mini. I feel faint!

Screwed up the courage and guess what?

I finally got the courage to sign up for the Mini. Thanks to Runner Susan's encouragement.! I got to the page where it said pick your estimated time of completion. Did not know what to pick...should I just go with the 4 hours or go with like 3.25??? They did not have a "Please God Let Me Finish" time. ACK I did not know what to do so exited out and put in a phone call to someone that has ran the Mini. Hopefully I will get my consulation phone call returned and I can sign up before the day is over! I am already nervous and antsy about the 10k and I know I will be the last one in. But I guess that is okay because someone has to be last...it might as well be me. I ordered my military cadance tapes and they should be here before then! Yeah I hope they work miracles.
Music: I have rediscovered the joys of Michael Jackson, Van Morrison, Bad Company and Exile this morning! I tucked away my top 10 play list to go back in time. I had to have a little fun and listen to Hot Chocolate's "You Sexy Thing". I tell you Michael Jackson will make your feet move! I was practically going over the top of my treadmill and had to increase the speed to 5.6, 5.8 and 5.9 for the last mile! Go Kim Go! I aim to be a 11 minute mile girl by the end of the year. At least that is to do a 5k holding a consistent 11. Oops back to work....

Don't let Virginia Fool You

Ahhh she speaks of old lady, don't let her fool you! She camouflages herself well behind her sedate sweaters and sweet smile but lurking beneath is the mind and spirit of a 20 year old and a razor sharp sense of humor! That humor was inherited by my father and passed down to myself as well as my sisters and my children.

Dental Pain: Unbelievable my mouth was more bothersome yesterday and today then the day of the surgery.

Running: Tried to do 3 miles outside this morning. I hate heat and humidity. Give me the frigid cold anyday. Had to stop and walk up the two little hills. Whined and carried on all the way up the hill. Had to walk several other times about 50 paces each time. I was dripping wet and yet again unable to catch my breath. I think Missy Elliott was trying to kill me with the beat of her music. So much that I went looking for other music and what should I find but some Running Military Cadance CD's. Which I ordered two and am so excited and can't wait to get them! Hopefully a steady beat will help me with that pesky little I can't breath problem. For some reason I have not been able to get in my music the last couple of times and anytime I can't feel the music my run is unsuccessful. So tomorrow is another day and maybe before my swim I will try to do another run. My long run is 5 miles this week and I have it slated for Sunday so I can use Saturday as a recovery day in preparation for my 5 miles. I will be volunteering for the Triathalon this weekend. The athletes are AMAZING.

Grandma Mae: Mae called her father is doing well and she was able to talk to him on the phone. She will heading to New York to spend some time with him. Have a safe trip Mae we love you!

MWA: Went to the doctor for his followup from surgery. He is doing well and recovering nicely.

Better get to bed. Already was asleep but woke up because I fell asleep to early. I am ashamed to say it was around 8:00 p.m when I was sawing logs in my recliner.

And she cried and cried and cried

What happened when one previously very overweight woman went shopping for a bathing suit? Hint: The answer is in the Title of the post. She cried and cried and cried. My current swimming attire is gym shorts and tee shirt OVER my bathing suit. I am getting some incredible drag in the water from this outfit so thought I would buy a new bathing suit. I just feel very exposed in a normal swimsuit so I thought I would go more for the board short and swimming tank. It was not pretty! It still did not cover up all the damage to my body. Shiver Gag! There was skin all over. I know people talk about self acceptance but I guess while my physcial health has improved my mental health that deals with self acceptance has NOT recovered. I should embrace my fat damage and be proud of it....but I can't. For those of you that do not know what I speak of when I say "Fat Damage" I will give you two examples of what a woman, who was fat for 20 years, looks like when she loses weight. 1)A balloon that has been inflated to its fullest mulitple times and finally you let all the air out and 2) A candle that you lit and burnt and then taken the lighter and melted the outside of the candle till all the wax drips down the outside. Okay see why this aint pretty? At any rate I still don't have a swim suit so I guess it is yet another week of tee shirt and gym shorts. While I was already crying I thought I might as well try on some standard woman workout clothes. All I can say is everyone should be THANKFUL that I wear mens shorts and baggy shirts. It was horrible...again with the skin everywhere. I finally settled on some regular woman's tank tops to wear with my gym shorts. It isn't quite as horrible but I think I can only wear them at home when I workout...in the dark! Needless to say I came home in quite a mood which my husband had to bear the brunt of. I have decided the swimsuit designers need a BIG LESSON in swimsuit design! First why can't they make the long boardshorts for woman like the do the guys? I bet woman would buy them. Then why do all tank tops have to have spagetti straps or the criss crosses so that fat and skin can mush out the little holes the criss crosses make? Can't they make a swimsuit top that looks more like a regular big woman's tank? I would bet a year's salary that kind of combination would sell to the big girls. While I am ranting about clothes and the big girl I might as well discuss cap sleeves. Why does every single shirt have cap sleeves. Cap sleeves do not cover up saggy underarms! They are also small so when i tried them they squeezed my arms and made my arms look like a sausage. Okay I have much more inner rage about clothing, designers and big girls but I am going to stop because I will set myself up to be cranky all day and I am already edge because I have on the "Tank Top". Okay next topic

Man without Appendix (MWA) and Little Pumpkin: I went over to MWA's house and took care of him and his little pumpkin a/k/a Carissa because Mrs. MWA was scheduled to work. MWA is not suppose to lift and Carissa is getting quite big so Grandma got the ultimate fun of getting to care for her son and her son's baby. It was fun and I have to say my hat's off to Mothers. I think people forget what hard work it is to tend to others. I have to say while Motherhood is wonderful I am sincerely glad that I have left the motherhood stage and have gone to the Grandma stage. Lots of fun with none of the on and on daily responsibility. I can drop in nuture to my heart's content and then with a wave dissappear when I have had my fill of fun. We had a wonderful night. I played scrabble and LOST, cooked hamburgers on the grill and just sat and talked. Carissa got to hold her first scrabble rack. That is a milestone in our family. Carissa loves her Bunny Foo Foo (a stuffed pink bunny) and he was sopping wet by the end of the evening because she likes to eat Bunny Foo Foo. After the evening I spent with MWA I remembered how much I just LIKE my children. I don't just love them but I like them as well. They are funny and smart and just plain fun.

YARD SALE: I have to say I have found the all time weirdest thing at a yard sale. A basket of USED SOAP SLIVERS. Yes that is right! The cost was $1.00 and the soaps came with a basket. I just stared at the basket. I was dumbfounded! I just don't know what to say about this other then the lady selling it was at least 80. But I don't think that is even an excuse because my Grandma is 83 and I am 100% certain that she would never ever ever sell a basket of used soap slivers.

FOOD: Aunt Denise is back from her trip and she had fun. She taunted me with descriptions of yummy yummy foods that I have not yet tried. The best was the fried cheesecake with rasberry sauce. I have a passion for rasberry sauce and the last time I had some I was almost licking my plate to get all the sauce. She better take me to the Taste of Cincinnati next year or I will hunt her down and hold her hostage that week so she can't go.

Dental Recovery: Still tender. Still feels like somone socked my in the jaw. I can't open my mouth all the way and the packing is driving me nuts. Defintely a tolerable recovery and I will not be scared when I get my left side done at the end of the year.

Exercise: I got all my running milage in during the week so did not have to run on the weekend. Which is a good thing because I think my mouth would hurt when I ran. But I did get an awesome bike ride in on Sunday. I did 10.18 miles and discovered that my seat is too low on my bike. I am not getting a good extenstion on my legs and my quads and knees are bearing the load alone. If I get the seat moved up my glutes and ham strings can kick in a little. It was a beautiful morning for the ride. Today, sob sob the Y is closed so I have to find something to do at home. Maybe another bike ride then I will mow the grass? Tomorrow is 3 miles and lifting. I hate it when the Y is closed. My mother a/k/a the Slug is not sad. She is joyous. She is probably dancing around her apartment releasing balloons, and tossing confetti...nah she is probably sitting in her rocking chair in some kind of mental joyful stupor.

Time for coffee, time to comet the bathtub, time to start a load of laundry. Have a great day!

Aunt Denise Flees Town

Aunt Denise has fled Lafayette without being hindered by her young. Amber went to spend the weekend with a friend. Abby was being cared for first by James and Tasha and then to be handed off to Amanda for the rest of the weekend. HAVE FUN DENISE you deserve it after a hectic year of wedding planning! Denise went to the Taste of Cincinnati...the mecca of all fun for family. We love places where you can get multiple types of food in one vicinity and having music thrown into that WOW.

James and Tasha brought Abby over to my house where she ran in and gave me and oh so gentle hug because she knew I was "sick". She got to eat pizza, play with her dolls, skate and play with bubbles. The whole time she was just chatting away and several times mentioned that "Baby Adam Flickard" was going to come to her house when he was born and "Baby Adam Flickard" was going to get to play with her toys and she was going to be nice to him and not take toys away from him. Evidently ripping toys away from other children is a favorite pasttime of my niece. She was so funny I could hardly stop laughing which of course made my mouth hurt!
Abby likes to sing, play with dolls and eat cheese. Her current movie fascination seems to the "The Grinch". She is a very bright girl! She also took a bath at my house and put her pajamas on. Abby LOVES to take baths. See the phrase of the day for Abby's bathtime.

Phrase of the Day: "Hey you are not suppose to pee in the bathtub" Spoken by Me. Response by Abby"I am sorry".
I forgot that warm water sort of relaxes the bladder of the young (and the old too I suppose). At any rate Aunt Kim was at fault for not making her pee first. (I thought it was hilarious but put on my most sober face so that I could impress into her little mind the good hygiene thing.)

Jamie and his Dad are going target shooting today. My boys and their guns! They are going to make breakfast first then head off to the country. I am going to stay home, straighten up my house and then perhaps hit a few yard sales. Boring day...maybe I will go see the new Xmen movie. I dearly love superhero movies. When I was little I use to pretend I was Wonder Woman. Before Wonder Woman came on tv I would watch I dream of Jeannie and Bewitch and yes I pretended to be them as well. Matter of fact I had a pair of pajamas that made me feel like the real "Jeannie" As an adult I have progressed from the need to wear costumes to merely carrying a "Wonder Woman" keychain. Though If I had the clevage of Wonder Woman I might be tempted to get me a "Wonder Woman" outfit to workout in. Alas I do not and my workout clothes consist of Men's gym shorts and baggy tee shirts. Which leads me into a story. Last week I had come in from a run (in my usual attire), when my daughter spots like three itty bitty holes in the back of my favorite workout teeshirt. She remarks on them and I advise that they were my airvents(made by adding too much bleach to my whites I might add). My husband then notices them and states that I look like a hobo running around town in my raggy teeshirts. He then RIPS MY SHIRT and made my itty bitty air vents the size of half dollars! He says there now you can't wear it anymore. I told him it all good he just made my airvents bigger. He then RIPS IT COMPLETELY DOWN the back. I told him now everyone would see my bra. He just glared at me. He does not think I am funny. My shirt is in the trash. I now don't have a favorite workout shirt.
Okay have rambled long enough. Must clean my house!

Medical News

Grandma Mae: Grandma Mae called last night and her father is not doing well. He has been in the nursing home for quite awhile. He now has some kind of bleeding in the brain and may not make it. Mae our thoughts are with you and we love you!

Brad: Recovering going well. It is still hard for him to get up and down but he is doing better. I am going over tonight to help with Ty and Carissa while Natalie works.

Me: Surgery was not as bad as I thought. It took about 2 hours to do 1/2 of my mouth. My jaw feels tight and stiff and sore but not bad. Sort of liked I got socked in the jaw. Just a little swelling. My husband says I look like a chipmunk with a nut in its mouth.

Brad+Pain=No Appendix

Poor poor Brad had his appendix removed. Sunday night my son was having horrible abdominal pain. He was taken to the Urgent Care escorted by his trusty companion Jamie (his brother). Urgent Care in turn sent him to the ER because they did not know what was wrong with him. The hospital admitted him to "observe him". They were not forthcoming with what they thought might be wrong..just some vague answers. Monday morning still no concrete answer so I being his mother went into my full "What is the Worst Scenerio" Mode. Finally Monday afternoon some answers and by around 4:00 pm he was heading into surgery to have his appendix removed. You think when your kids are grown that your worries are over! I am hear to tell you that will NEVER happen! A mother's love and worry does not have a time switch and does not switch off just because the child might be 25, and married with children. All is well now. Brad is recovering nicely and may be going home today! Plus he has some real cool connect the dots scars. In our family scars are considered VERY MANLY. My husband is all kinds of manly. He has some very cool scars. The best scar is when he shot the nail thru his hand. Being a manly man he tried to pull it out with pliers. That hurt really bad so he put away his tools, loaded his ladder on his truck and proceeded to drive himself to the Urgent Care. They removed the large roofing nail and offered him pain medication which he declined (because MEN don't need pain pills). The next morning I was calling Urgent Care, upon husband's request, to tell them that he changed his mind and he would like the pain pills please. End result one very cool scar and an excellent story to tell at family dinners.

BABY FLICKARD: Baby Flickard's nurse has advised the he will likely be well over 9 pounds at birth. So all those that may be considering buying baby an outfit you might want to forego the newborn size and go to the 0-3 months/or larger. We grow em big in this family! Poor Kendra...this is gonna hurt!

Baby Carrissa: Utterly adorable! She has her Grandpa's heart in the palm of her little baby hand. He was constantly taking her away from me saying, "She wants her Grandpa".

Tyson: Spent some time with my boy. Played some basketball. Showed him Grandma was no slacker on the Court. He should be impressed to have such a cool grandma...who else has a grandma that will jump on a trampoline and shoot hoops.

"Flickard"

That is what my 3 year old niece calls my soon to be born grandson. She cannot pronounce the word "Richard". So when you ask her what Kendra's baby's name is she replies "Baby Adam Flickard". It was so funny that I asked her what the baby's name was like 100 times.

KUDOS TO: Jamie and Tasha for finding a crib set at a yard sale for $125.00. It had not even been used because the parents said their baby likes to sleep with them. So we got crib, mattress, changing table and dresser! Good Job!

Grandma Sue: Went to Grandma Sue's birthday party (She is my stepmother but we all just call her Grandma Sue because that is what the kids call her). Had dinner at the Moose in Frankfort (or as our family calls it Frantucky)...talk about stepping back in time. When I walked into the building I felt like I had been transported back to the 60's and 70's. I ordered steak, baked potato, greenbeans and garlic bread. The greenbeans were delicious. I was shoveling them down my throat as fast as I could..thinking yum yum. When I got to the bottom of the bowl I discovered about a 1/2 inch of some buttery greasy sludge. No wonder I liked them they had been cooked with a diet killing, cholesteral busting mix of butter and bacon grease. Those greenbeans were more deadly then the cake and ice cream.

Running: Thought I better run on Saturday to prepare for the Hog Jog which is on a Saturday at 8:00. I set my run later (at 8:00). I hate to run after 7:00 a.m! So off I set at 8:00. Though it was actually 8:15 before I started running because first my shoes laces were to loose, then they were too tight, then my ankle brace felt funny so I had to adjust it, then I noticed my batteries in my MP3 player were getting low. So I had to go back in the house for new batteries. Then I decided my shoe laces were too loose. Got my shoelace situation under control, at least I thought so, and decided I probably should get a drink of water. So at long last my ran began about 8:15. There was traffic and car exhaust. The sun was out and made me feel hot. My shoes STILL did not feel right. It felt like the shoelaces were so tight they were making my feet numb. So I knew this was gonna be a doomed run. I could never seem to catch my breath. My music was not right. It was either too fast or to slow. I made it to the 2 miles and then another 1/4 mile. Then my legs just stopped. Just like that (SNAP)! So walked for about 2 minutes then started running again...another 1/4 mile and IT DID IT AGAIN! Walked for 2 minutes. Decided to punish myself my doing a few sprints. My traitorous body will suffer for its rebellion. My legs shut down again! So finally I got back in the groove and finished the run. As further punishment I made myself sprint around the block then run up and down our little alley hill like 5 times. One of our neighbor hood drunks/displaced person was sitting beside the dumpster at the Village Pantry watching me run up and down the little hill. He probably thinks sober people are crazy. The rest of the day my body was so sore! It has not been this sore in a long long time. I think I had several factors going on...one I did not get a day of rest before my long run. Thursdays and Fridays are pretty hard days! We also had a sub instructor for Friday Power Hour. Having a different instructor does make a difference. The instructor may not be "harder" but they do different exercises that your body is not use to. I also forgot to stretch after my run so my tendon in the bottom of my foot throbbed. So yesterday I was grunting and groaning everytime I did anything!. In addition I took down a set of shelves that my husband has put up in the laundry room. When my honey puts something up it is put up to last. I don't think a tornado could blow his wall shelves over!

Well time to get ready for church! Have a great day!

My Grandson was Hopped Up on Frosted Flakes

My daughter had her ultra sound yesterday and without a doubt Adam is an Adam! He was also the bounciest baby you ever saw....he rolled and flipped all over the place and my daughter said the Nurse had a hard time getting his heart beat because he was bouncing all over the place. Kendra said he was overactive on account of the pure bowl of sugar she had for breakfast (Frosted Flakes). She must have washed down those frosted flakes with Jolt soda because that boy was all over the place. You could see his chubby little cheeks (on his face that is) and he has very long legs and some pretty good size feet on him. Only about 14 more weeks to go till he is here! I will try to scan his ultra sound pictures and post it. I can't wait to hold him in my arms!
Exercise: I SWAM a 1/2 of a lap....go kim! It wasn't that pretty but I actually moved! When I got to the 1/2 lap I came up sputtering because I am still learning that "take a breath" thing. I try to take a breath and all I get is a gulp of water. Believe it or not I was quite relieved to be in the water because my LEGS are tired. 4 miles on Sunday, 1 hour of spinning/45 minutes of Power Hour, and 3 miles on Tuesday makes for a very tired Kim. Soft day tomorrow...just 2 miles and lifting.
Food: Oh my how I have suffered. I was so desperate for a dessert last night, but did not want to violate my food program, that I put whipped cream on my watermelon. You can have 2 tablespoons of whipped creame for hardly any calories! Whipped Cream on Watermelon is YUCK! I ended up licking the whipped cream off the watermelon then just ate the watermelon. While I was doing this my husband was stuffing a cupcake down his throat. I felt like a lioness ready for the hunt while watching him. I was poised..I was ready to leap..when he stuck the last bite in his mouth...another delay of 2 seconds and he would have gone down. I HATE that I cannot eat cupcakes. I hate that I must be a food nazi thru the week. The quality of my food life STINKS. I want Cheese Nips, I want M&Ms I want anything but vegtables. Sigh. Nothing good to eat till the weekend. I hope I can make it because I need to get off 20 pounds by next year.

Family Event: Don't forget Grandma Sue's bday will be held in Frankfort at the Moose from 5-7 on Saturday night.

Phrase of the Day: "Kim, there are cops standing around your car" uttered by Melissa. We had some overparking issues in our lot so I could not get a spot. (The contruction workers and their gigantic trucks were taking up TWO Spots) So had to go to the next lot which I thought was all our parking and in fact the one row I was parked in was not ours. They were taking down my plate info...no doubt to give me a ticket...when Melissa called I scurried out to the lot and moved my vehicle. FYI the one "off limit" row was not marked! I thought for sure when she called and told me about the police that my poor little car was the victim of a hit and run....my legs are still shaking!

Oops back to work....gotta go earn my bread and butter (which I might add is not on the diabetic diet!)so I guess I should say gotta go earn my apples and cauliflower.

WHAT DO YOU THINK? SHOULD I FOLD?

SHOULD I RAISE?

Mother's Day Dinner

Yesterday was a day of fun for the Mother's Day Dinner. We had a full house! Since the weather was not great we had a cook in. Beef stew in one crockpot, chili in another. We had garlic Chedder Biscuits, Salad, Cheese Ball, Cheese and Crackers. Dessert was my Mom's homemade Peanut Butter Pie (very yummy, very rich!) and my "store bought" Coconut Cream Pie. My sister made a special request for No Bake Cookies so I whipped her up a batch! We played Bingo (for prizes). Then wooooo hooooo POKER! Guess who was the Poker Champ! None other then yours truely. HA pushed my son out because I made a "Big Bet" and because I routinely (at 9:00 pm) go all in because I am tired and want out....he seemed to ASSUME that this was the case.....However this time, while I was tired, and I might have said "I am tired I just want to get this game over with" I just HAPPENED to be in possession of TRIPS. HA HA GOODBY JAMIE! I think I have room for your chips over here. Irritated my sister because she says, "How do you play with a person like that" I told her when it is getting close to my bedtime my playing becomes Erratic. You never know whether I have a good hand or I am just wanting out of the game. She says I am stupid. I say I am sly like a fox. Either way I WON! Happy Happy Dance by Kim. You gotta see the Happy Dance....invented by Aunt Suzie (a/k/a Aunt Snoozy). I bet your wondering why Aunt Suzie is a/k/a Aunt Snoozy. So now I will give you a run down of a few family nicknames and how they came about.

Aunt Snoozy (a/k/a Aunt Suzie): She worked 3rd shift for a long time and would sleep during the day. Her neices (Kendra and Amanda) were young and really did not understand the whole work all night sleep during the day thing. They just thought Aunt Suzie slept alot. Hence the name Aunt Snoozy.

Aunt Hee Hee (a/k/a Aunt Denise) My kids could not say Denise so the best they could do was Aunt Hee Hee. When she use to pick them up they would run to her car saying "To the HEE HEE MOBILE!"

The Slug (a/k/a my mother Janice): Given for lack of desire to MOVE anything except for the leg movement it takes to get her rocking chair going!

Rat Boy (a/k/a my son James): He LOVED cheese! He also likes to refer to himself as BIG DADDY!

Big Mamma Jo/Big Mamma Shakalaka (a/k/a Me): Given by my Son James. I think he might have been referring to my generously proportioned body. I think the Shakalaka sounds almost Shakira like so I just pretend that it means I am a Hot Chick that just happens to be a Mother...its a stretch but I almost have myself convinced.

Kookie Lukie: Poor Lucas just got his nickname because it rhymes and sounds cute!

The Princess (a/k/a Kendra): Given by her father. After years of being called the Princess she has come to believe that she ACTUALLY is a princess!

Buddy Brad (a/k/a Brad): Given by his father upon his entrance in the world. He held our newly born son and said "Hey Buddy Brad" And that is what we called him for years! Another nickname for Brad is Braddy: given by Tyson. Braddy is a cross between Daddy and Brad. Cool nickname!

EXERCISE UPDATE: Thanks to J-Lo, Missy Elliott, Gwen Steffani, Black Eyed Peas, Blue Cantrell and Rhianna for getting me thru my 4 MILE run! A special Thank You to ELO for helping me bring it home! First mile/I think I am dying Second Mile/I'll never make it the whole 4 miles Third Mile/Okay Feeling a Little Better Fourth Mile/Baby I am on fire! I can go forever! I guess its hard to tell but I succesfully made my 4 mile run. Forgot to look at the time when I left but it felt like good time! So my weekly goal was ACHIEVED.

FOOD: Awesome all week! Could have been a little better this weekend but much improved!

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

Happy Mother's Day to all! Giving birth to a child makes you mother, adopting a child makes you a mother but in my opinion any woman that nurtures and loves is a "mother". All the women in our family are nurturers!!!! So Happy Happy Mothers Day to Me, Denise, Susie, Mom, Sue, Mae, Grandma Casey, Kendra, Tasha, Natalie, Martha, and Amanda. I love you all!

HOG JOG

Now how could I not sign up for a run called the "Hog Jog"? So tomorrow I will sign up. Really I am just doing it because I want a tee shirt that says Hog Jog! They have a 10k and a 2 mile. I am not quite ready for a 10k so will do the 2 mile and just run to get a better mile time then I had for the 5k. I will have to go out there and do a warm up mile because my first mile is always my worst! So I will warm up for a mile and then maybe I can try for two consistent 11.5 minute miles. HOG JOG...hahahaha I have been laughing about that all day. When my son was in high school and played football he was lineman and they gave him a shirt that said "Hug a Hog". He offered that shirt to me few years ago and I might add 120 pounds ago, which I declined to wear. How horrifing I thought it was to have a fat fat woman wearing a shirt that said "Hug a Hog". NOW I am purposely signing up for an activity to get a HOG SHIRT.
I have almost totally committed to running the Mini next May. I went to sign up today and then got scared and exited out! But this weekend I am going to committ and sign up...then I know I will show up because I hate to waste money and it costs $45.00. I have already asked for the Friday off so I can go to Indy to pick up my race packet. One of the guys from the Y says he will run it too. He says we can share an oxygen tank! He should be about my pace so I will have someone there. I hear they segregate the peopled based on their goal/mile/time. I will be in the "Please let me Finish" Group.

Goal Accomplished today: Short run day 2 miles in 23.12 minutes. My first mile was slow then I had to really pick up the speed on the second mile to make up for the first mile. Did 2 chin ups then rested did 2 more...on my way to doing 5 consecutive chin up. Lifting session was awesome. My back is getting strong strong strong. Tomorrow...tra la la la SPINNING and POWER HOUR...wooooooo hooooo love to spin....love to power hour....

FOOD: I have discovered the joys of spinach salad. Yummy! Spinach, red onions, fresh mushrooms, a few bacon bits and some lowfat Vidalia Onion dressing....mmmm I have had one everyday this week, along with my usually boring lowcarb, low fat, turkey sandwich with mustard (BLAH!), and my big yellow delicious apples. I also had some pretzels with lunch this week because I have been hungry for crunchy stuff. I have been a GOOD GIRL all week! Tonight I made my husband chocolate chip cookies and nary a cookie crossed my lips. A+++++ for Kim's discipline.

Upcoming Family Events: Due to the weather the Saturday cookout will become a Saturday cookin!!!!! Who knows what will be served but I promise you there will be food! Don't forget to bring your poker faces! Kendra will be moving in June and we would greatly appreciate any and all family members that could help! Grandma Mae will be coming in to town June 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13th. She will be leaving on the 14th. I will keep you posted on family gatherings just as soon as the planning committe (Denise...hahahaha) has completed Mae's schedule. Kendra's baby shower it tentatively set for the first Saturday in July.

Out of the Depths and Into the Sun

I think I can safely say that the blues have been put away for awhile! At least I hope so! Last week I accomplished my workout goals for the week with a bonus 1/2 mile on Sunday. Monday's workout was HARD. I was tired from the weekend and I ate too much over the weekend. My belly was flopping all around and my legs felt like lead when I was trying to spin. Today's run...not so bad...hard...I sweat like crazy but managed the 2.5 miles. I think it was hard because I did a run on Sunday and then did Spinning and Power Hour on Monday so my legs were all burnt out. I also have determined what you eat makes a HUGE difference in your workout! Thursday is 2 miles and Saturday.....4MILES...can she do it? YES SHE CAN!
Updates:
Abby: Went to have ice cream with my neice Abby. We are eating our ice cream and she looks over at me and says "Kimmie I love you!" Talk about melting my heart.
Mother's Day: Mother's Day is fast approching. Children it is not necessary to buy me anything...having you is a gift enough! We will be having a cookout on Saturday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. Hotdogs/Brats, Chips, Watermelon, Deviled Egg, Dessert. Each family should bring a 2 liter of soft drink and if you would like bring a covered dish (and yes, for you comedians, it must have food in it!) We will be playing Euchre, Scrabble, Texas Hold Em and Baggo. We will get Jerry to build a fire and we can do SMORES! ymmmmm.
Surgery: The first bone grafting (on the right side) is scheduled for May 26...shiver..shiver... I know it is on Memorial Day weekend and think that is good for two reasons 1) Will only have to use one sick day and will still have 3 days to recover, 2) Will not mess with my training schedule. I can do my weekend run on Wed before I swim. What a brilliant mind I have! I will be working out Friday because I scheduled my surgery for 10:00 so I can get my workout in first!!! How DEDICATED am I???
Phrase of the Day: "Open wide....this might hurt just a little" Guess where I was at this morning? And it actually hurt quite a bit!

TIDBIT OF KNOWLEDGE: Do not try to drink out of a straw when your mouth has been numbed. It does not work.

Wedding Review

My sister pulled it off! It was an awesome wedding. The bride was beautiful as were the maids of honors and the flower girl. The groom was handsome as were all the men in the wedding party! Boy are family sure cleans up good! The ceremony was beautiful and the memory candles were an awesome touch. My sister had a memory candle made for our loved ones that are no longer with us. My father, My other father and the Groom's mother. My sister sang a song to her daughter as she gave her daughter in marriage to Roger. That took ALOT of courage on my sister's part and just shows the depth of her love for her daughter.
Phrase of the Day goes to my grandson Tyson (the ringer bearer). "Abby (the flower girl) is wearing a dress and she looks beautiful. She is wearing a dress just like Amanda (the bride)."

The reception was fantastic...good food good cake lots of laughter! The tables looked lovely! My sister was very creative with her centerpieces. They had a DJ and my grandson Tyson was channeling John Travolta as he showed us some awesome moves on the dance floor. He did the Chicken Dance and the Cha Cha...oh and the Hockey Pockey and a little slow dancing with his momma. My neice Amber was up there showing us some good moves also. Amber looked beautiful and quite grown up. I did not know she was so full of the "Boogie Fever". Amber you should wear your hair in French Braids more often. You looked fantastic! My children and their spouses looked awesome all cleaned up in their Sunday Best! My grandson looked so handsome in his little Tux and my husband in his tux...WOW. My granddaughter was in attendance and I don't think her little butt hit her seat one time! It was pass the baby time! Who could help it...she is adorable!

The next day since Grandma Mae was in town for the wedding we went to a movie and then had a dinner in the evening. The Bride had to miss that party as she was on her honeymoon but I ate a little extra in her honor! We had a great time...played some games...of course had to play a little Texas Hold Em. The cards were not good to me! My grandson Tyson talked me into getting on the trampoline....that is not something I really enjoyed but he thought it was great that I was up there with him. After dinner he wanted me to go again and I told him I just ate and would likely throw up and it might get on him....He said that was okay....I passed anyway. My sister needs to get one of those trampoline cages because I was a nervous wreck watching the kids bounce I expected one of them to just bounce right off and land on the ground.

All in all a fun, laughter, food filled weekend! Thanks Denise you did a great job....maybe you should give up the 401K analyist thing and become a wedding planner!

The Bride! She is beautiful! The Flower Girl and the Ring Bearer are really tired of the picture taking process.

Semi Happy Girl

When Abby saw the picture I was going to put on the blog she said "I don't want my sad picture on the blog" I told her that I would put a happy picture too. This is the best she could do for a happy face.

White Lightening!

That is perhaps not entirely accurate but I think I did awesome this morning. I did my 3.5 miles today because I did not trust myself to do it on Saturday after being up late for Amanda's wedding on Friday. This way I only have to do 2 miles on Saturday(per my schedule for weekly miles) and if I do more then 2 it is a BONUS. I did 3. 5 miles each mile progressively faster with the last mile at 11.12 minutes...yea Kimmie...that is the best I have EVER done. I used the treadmill today because I did not map out a 3.5 mile from the Y before I left the house. My foot is a little tender today but not from running but because I wore my brown shoes with no arch supports. The brown shoes have absolutely no arch and no arch support and they always make my feet hurt if I don't wear the arch supports with them.

Wedding: ONE DAY! Bride is happy, Mother of the Bride...melting down...grandmother of the bride...bringing up topics that make the mother of the bride go further into meltdown mode. Aunt of the Bride is looking forward to her meal and she plans on eating any extra meals from the guests who FTA. Grandmother of the Bride plans on eating enough cake to put her in a diabetic coma. Why why why do all of our family functions center around the meal as the hightlight of the event? We are bad bad bad people! But we serve good good good food. Our family motto is "I love you now let me feed you" Love=Food

WELL WISHES: I wish luck to all the Indy Mini Runners for tomorrow's race and I wish I could be there with you. Many people at the Y have been training hard and I know they will do well because they are determined focused people.

DST: Daylight savings time is killing me. I am tired because I am running around like an insane person at 10:00 at night when previously I would have been lights out long long before that. It is light and it is still 9:00 at night. Last night I went to bed and told my husband I did not care if it was light out. It was 9:00 and I was going to bed. We are going to have a whole state of exhausted Hoosiers. No wonder everyone has been so cranky lately. I bet our crime rate goes up because sleep deprived people get edgy...domestic battery will go up because there are a bunch of cranky sleep deprived woman that have gone over the edge and start beating on their husbands, theft will go up as people are forced to shoplift to support their coffee habit, DUI's will go up as men flee their houses to go to bars to get away from the cranky sleep deprived wives that are battering them. See DST is a BAD BAD thing!

Phrase of the Day

"Go in and call me and tell me what you smell"

**** Kendra in reference to her having cleaned my carpets...GOD Bless the CHILD... and wanting to know if it smelt like wet dog.******* She also had many other blog worthy phrases in the last few days but some of them just can't be posted!!!!! I will tell you though I am still laughing about some of them!

P.S. Kendra not only shampooed my living room carpet (and spare room) but she also fixed my computer the other day. If I had known she was this useful I never would have given her to Lucas.

Arising slowly from Depths of Gloom

Slowly slowly I am arising from the depths of gloom. It was swimming day today, which did nothing to improve my mood. However, what should be awaiting me there but a present...I love presents...it doesn't have to a $ present...a flower...a pretty rock....a kind word..... My gift was from my friend Rebecca. She gifted me with a pair of swimming goggles and a swimming cap. The swimming goggles helped tremendously I can see the bottom of the pool. I now don't get that panicky feeling because I can't see where I am going...when I attempt to swim. Thank you thank you Rebecca!
Updates:
Running: Accomplished 2.5 outside miles...felt pretty good..it was dark, it was wet, it was muddy...our sidewalks are crap...slow slow had to keep leaping and working my way around mud puddles and downed tree limbs...but felt pretty good. Thursday is 2 miles and then Saturday I am scheduled for 3.5 miles. After running I lifted...which I love...and I only added a teensey weensey bit more weight on just a few things. Shshhhhh don't tell my husband!

Wedding: 2 DAYS! Rehersal and dinner tomorrow night. I am surprised. My sister has not yet entered the meltdown stage. Quite remarkable for a woman of our bloodline. Usually we are in full meltdown mode a week before any event...I wonder if she is medicating???? or drinking?????Hmmmmm

YMCA: I will be volunteering for the YMCA Triathalon June. 3 If anyone else in the family would like to volunteer just give me call. You could also volunteer to supply a snack. It is an awesome event. I love watching the Athletes and as ususal I am eaten up with envy. My job is that of pointing. I "Point" the bikers at the turn. I feel sorta of like one of the models on the game show! I point so gracefully. They will also need voluteers for the Pumpkin Push (10k) and the Sleighbell Run (5k) so if you guys want to help out let me know and I will get you signed up. I won't be volunteering as I will be participating in the 10k and 5k (at least that is the goal). However, these events are not just for runners...walkers are there too. If you feel spunky sign up! You get a cool tee shirt and they FEED you snacks afterwards AND it raises money for the Y and you all know how I feel about the Y...I get that warm fuzzy feeling.

Signed:
Gloomy but looking for happiness!

Oscar Ain't Got Nothing on Me!

Oscar the Grouch...Kim the Grouch...now that has a nice ring to it. My mood has improved ever so slightly...and I do mean slightly. I spun...I power houred..it helped a little. Now I am sitting at my desk on my lunch hour having a feel sorry for Kim day. I just have this total black cloud of unhappiness hovering over my head. I hope it goes away soon. I want to throw my self on the ground and sob and sob and sob. If I was a drinking woman I would have a bottle open about now...no I would have had it opened HOURS ago. I am looking very forward to my run tomorrow. Perhaps that will shake the blues out of me? Tomorrow is scheduled 2.5 miles and lifting. Perhaps my mood is attributable to my upcoming doctors appointments.
Updates:

Grandma Mae: Grandma Mae arrives in town Thursday evening for the wedding! Yeah! She will be staying thru Sunday. We are trying to schedule family activities for Saturday. Hopefully we will get the entire family together so she can see everyone. She will be returning to Indiana for another visit June 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12. So family keep your calendar clear so she can spend some time with you! I will be taking off the Friday and the Monday and Tuesday.

Wedding: 4 days and counting! I have a dress, Kendra has a dress. I have to pick up Jerry's tux Friday morning then we are set to go. I am taking Friday off so I can spend some time with Mae!

Adam: Kendra is looking most pregnant. She has an Ultra Sound scheduled in two weeks.

Medical: My oral surgery/bone graft is approaching soon. Scared...don't want my gums cut open....blah....I also have some other non dental medical testing coming up in a couple of weeks so please keep me in your thoughts and pray for low Liver enzyme count! I would hate to keel over dead after just putting $6500 in my mouth. Maybe I should schedule my bone grafting till after my other test? Hahahahahaha. My Mom is having some eye surgery done... please keep her in your thoughts a well...eye surgery is very dangerous...especially at the spot she is having it done.

Have a great day everyone.

I am a grouch

Warning to my family: I am a grouch...approach with caution.....danger....
Yesterday was one of those days from the moment I opened my eyes I knew it was gonna be rough. And yes my poor husband talked to me and yes that lit my fuse...poor poor man...another innocent bystander struck down by "the mood". I scowled during church...did not want to shake hands during "say hello to your neighbor time" during church, refused to move from my spot in the pew (well chair). Ate too much lunch...went to Walmart...thought for sure I was going to bonk some lady over the head with the summer sausage in my cart, wanted to smack the whining child, huffed, puffed and glared my way past the Sunday shoppers, got out of Walmart swallowed a entire travel pack of teddy grahams without stopping for a breath (my husband asked if I felt better after eating them I told him I did not", got home went to my neice's baptism, then put on my friendly face at my sister's house, when I got home Iquickly took the happy face off and put the crabby face back on. Sat in my recliner, dosed off and woke up spardacially to advise my husband that this day "stunk and was the worse day after". Finally he turned out the lights and said "Okay I think you should go to bed now". I am up now...I am still grouchy...I do not want to spin, I want to stay in bed..think staying home in bed will probably make my mood worse...will spin, will refuse to speak to my co spinners...they will probably ban me from the Y...then I will be in a REALLY bad mood....I bet my husband is glad I am going to work.

I WILL NOT HAVE TO WEAR GYM SHORTS

I did it! I did it! I found dress for the wedding! In fact I found three dresses and a pair of shoes and a watch and some earrings. We went to store called Goodies and I found a nice blue long dress. In fact my daughter said it made me "look so thin". How could I walk away from a dress like that. So I checked the tag and winced....$79. I do not like to pay that much for an article of clothing unless it is in the form of a running shoe. But after realizing the wedding was NEXT friday and with the knowledge that it "made me look thin" I was like "what the heck" and dutiful bought the dress. Big surprise...when the girl rung it up it rung up at $30! Then we went to another store and I found another dress that would actually look nicer because then I would match with my husband who is in the wedding party and it was on sale for $30.00! Then my sister found another dress for me to try on and I looked at it and said "yuck". She said "Shut up and try it on anyway to see how it looks" I tried it on...thought it looked okay. Went out to be inspected by daughter, sister, neice...they gasped "OH my gosh you look great...you look so skinny" Okay when you have people staring with their mouth open and uttering the word "skinny" I would not have cared if that dress was $100.00. It was mine....and yes yes it rung up as $30.00! I almost fainted from joy. I then got the shopping fever and finished up my trip with a pair of low heel sandals, 2 pairs of earrings, one earring/necklace set and a watch. I was like a junkie...I needed more and more. Only stopped shopping because my daughter and niece were complaining like old ladies...they were tired, they were hungry, their feet hurt. 40 year old woman out shopped the two 20 year olds. Go Middle Aged Women Go!
P.S. I found an awesome pair of black heels that I was vehemently told by my three shopping partners "NO NO NO you do not look like a nice woman in those shoes" (words slightly cleaned up for public reading) I sighed..I wanted them...I remembered the coat incident (see previous post/coat/man/Las Vegas) and put them back. Have a great day!

THIS IS WHAT I MEAN

Daughter reads blog, says to me "I see someone took her sensative pill this morning."
This is why I love my family.

GOAL OBTAINED and BEING MUSHY

I have succesfully completed my training schedule for this week. In fact a day ahead time. I did my 3 mile run today. While not fast I did complete it. I thought about quitting several times but talked myself into slowing it down but not walking...so I made it! I usually take Saturdays off but am trying to switch from Sunday to Saturdays for several reasons: 1. The races are usually on Saturdays, 2. I need to get to Sunday School on time and 3. I need to stay awake during the service. Saturdays are hard for me because I run on Thursday (granted a short one but running nonetheless), and Friday is spinning and boot camp which burns my legs out. But I thought well since all the organized races are usually on a Saturday I should probably get use to it now. My food day has been good so far. My daughter laughed when I told her because she pointed out that was only 9:30 am. I told her that I have managed to screw up my food many many Saturdays well before 9:30 am. Right now I am eating an apple like a good girl and this morning I had oatmeal with apples (not instant...my own homemade). I did open the cubboard and saw Oreos so I quickly slammed the door. So far so good! Well I better get to work...kitchen clean now and off to work on the laundry room...blah I hate housework.
WARNING: MUSHY AND CORNY READ WITH CAUTION!~

To my Husband: I had to save you for last because the best is always saved till last. I love you. We have had a long long journey but we made it and it is worth every tear shed (on both our parts). I love you!

To those of you that are not mentioned it not for lack of love but lack of time. I have to be ready in one hour to go out of town but please know that all my family is in my heart and if even one person was missing it would leave a scar on my heart. I LOVE YOU all!

Me and My Baby

Me and my baby! This picture was taken in our basement. Note the gigantic scene behind me. For some reason we thought that decorating scheme was awesome. Also note the lovely burnt orange couch. We were very poor and most of our furniture was found on "Trash Day". We had a giant Telephone Spool in our living room for a coffee table. Our upstair furniture was that big wooden burlap looking furniture. We had crates for shelves and our kitchen table was a card table and chairs. I would lovingly make Tuna Cassarole for my spouse and set our "Table" for dinner. Poor guy ate lots of Tuna Cassarole because that was one of the few things I could cook. (I cook now though!) We had an old wringer washer to use and then I would hang our stuff out to dry...I still remember how stiff our clothes were from sun drying. My kids have started their adult lives MUCH MUCH better then their father and I did.
Random Memory: We bought our first TV at Kmart and had to bring it home on the city bus because we did not have a car. The TV was very heavy and we had to carry it from the bus stop to our house (which was several blocks). We were soooo excited when we plugged it in even if we only got like 2 channels. We've come along way baby!

New Training Schedule and FAMILY NEWS

I am ready to train for the 10k in October. Here is the first part of my training. When I complete this series I will move to an intermediate series. My workout schedule will stay the same for Monday, Wed, Friday: Spinning/Power Hour, Swimming, Spinning/Power Hour. I will still lift on Tuesday and Thursdays mornings. The running schedule will be as follows:
Week 1: Tuesday 2.5m, Thursday 2m, Sunday 3/m (This week)
2: Tuesday 2.5m, Thursday 2m, Sunday 3.5m
3: Tuesday 2.5m, Thursday 2m, Sunday 4m
4. Tuesday 3m, Thursday 2m, Sunday 4m
5. Tuesday 3m, Thursday 2m, Sunday 4.5m
6. Tuesday 3m, Thursday 2m, Sunday 5m
7. Tuesday 3m, Thrusday 2m, Sunday 5.5m
8. Tuesday 3m, Thursday 2m, Sunday 6m

This new training schedule is suppose to be a gradual increase in milage (.5) per week. This is suppose to help reduce the likelyhood of injuries. After I get this series done then its moving onto the next level! At some point if I do not feel ready to move on I can repeat weeks. Since I have lots of time till the 10k I can train slow and steady. However, the 10k route is VERY hilly so I am going to HAVE to work some hills in. I don't do well with hills...come to think of it I don't do so hot on flat land either. So far so good with my foot. It is feeling stronger and stronger. Though it still doesn't feel entirely right...but darn close.

Okay on to family news:

Daughter/Son in Law/Grandson: She had her prenatal checkup and Baby Adam is doing great. She has an ultrasound scheduled for next week. They have also had the offer accepted on the house and hopefully will be moving in June...well before Adam is to make his arrival. Its a really nice house and I know they will be very happy in it.

Mother: Recoving well from her surgery. Hope she is up and about soon!

Niece/Nephew in Law: Amanda and Roger are getting baptised this Sunday. Congratulations! Wedding countdown: 8 DAYS. I noticed today that my neice Amber has become a vegatarian....eat Protein girl...not so much peanut butter though...that makes Groleau woman expand!!!!

Food: WE GOT MUSHROOMS....yummy........ Please be proud of me I passed on not one but two requests for lunch dates....because I am strong...because I am good...because I gotta run the mini next year and must abide by my only one lunch out during the week per everyother month rule.

CAR: i cleaned out the moving trash bin that is also my car. I swept up graham cracker crumbs. I threw away Altoid Tins, empty water bottles, stryofoam coffee cups and even old newspapers (yard sale ads). You can now see my floorboards and my seats. My other car was disgusting and when I bought this Saturn I made a bet with my son that I could keep my car clean for a year. I made it and then the day after the year was up...I quit being neat and tidy. I did notice I had an odd assortment of stuff in my trunk: 1 pair of rollar blades, 3 bags of sidewalk melt, one mini portable grill in a box (no charcoal though), 1 stadium cushion, and umbrella, a fold up seat with an attached umbrella, a bag containing gloves, a book, and some papers that at some point I must have thought important enough to put in the bag, and 4 (yes 4) ice scrapers.

Home Improvement: Guess what my back room is not empty! I hate home improvement. I must finish the emptying process this weekend. I think I should just move to a new house.

Okay very hungry must eat dinner. I am very delayed on my meal as I stopped by my mother's to make sure she was doing okay and also stopped at my sister's to drop off the festival cart..She was eating dinner.....so hungry...fried chicken...wanted to rip it out of her hands...but had my doubts on whether I could take her....the woman in our family are freakishly strong and our powers are magnified when we are defending our food. I know I could probably take down Hulk Hogan for a cookie....

Running like the "Wind"? Nah don't think so!

Okay today was a pretty good run. Did not keep track of my time but did about 2.5 miles. Which is my goal for today. Ran outside..in the wind (strong strong wind)...in the dark...and it was "GOOD" My foot did not hurt even though I was running on pavement. I have been running outdoors only one day a week and using the treadmill the other two running days to save my foot the stress of the hard pavement. Foot held up good but I think I will use the treadmill on Thursday for my three miler and ease back into it. Unless I get lucky and they leave the gates unlocked on the highschool track, then I could do the whole hamster on a wheel thing (but a nice shock absorbant wheel). Okay back to today. I ran the 2.5 (might actually have been a teensy bit more) then finished up another 1 mile on the treadmill, walking it on the 14 for incline...big indoor hill. I then lifted and did 1 1/2 chin ups all myself (not the machine). It hurt..I grunted...Julie our instructor for Woman on Weights/Power Hour said she was impressed I could bend my head back that far! Hahaha Julie! I guess I thought the harder I tilted my head back that faster my chin would get up there. At any rate my goal is to do 5 chin ups in a row. Considering that I am still lifting a substantial amount of Kim that will be an awesome accomplishment. Is it impressive for a woman weighing all of 100 pounds to do chin ups???I think not. It is us, the woman of girth, that are the heros when we hoist our generous proportioned bodies up there! Workout for the rest of the week...tomorrow Swimming, Thusday 3 miles/lifting, Friday Spinning/Power Hour and then for the weekend a 4 miler and my body better not bale on me. I am going to not give it junk and furnish it with lots of good nutrients. No pie, no cookies, no muffins, no cereal...well maybe some cereal. Lots of fruit, protein and vegtables. I am going to try to be good because if I can control my weekend food then I KNOW I can get in shape for a 10k and ultimately the mini!!!! I will be a Power Woman, A She Rah, A Warrior Princess, Mini Mama Shakalaka...I will be a "RUNNER".
Ohhhh my my I got myself so worked up it is all I can do to not throw my running shoes on and take off out the door! However, my inner slug is very dominent tonight and it is demanding my pajamas and my new issue of Runners magazine. That reminds me of the old days when I would watch Denise Austin doing her exercises while I sat on the couch drinking coffee in my pajamas. I would always say "Yeah I need to start doing this but perhaps I need to watch for awhile to get familiar with the moves" Yeah right...there is never a tomorrow for exercise....only a right now!

Enjoyability Factor of Workouts 100%
Perceived Effort: 1,000,000%
Actual Effort Probably: 85%

Phrase of the Day: "Mom, Do I need to hit you with the stupid stick again" Uttered by son (over the phone because he dares not say that in person on account of I could kick his rear! hahahaha).

Buddy Brad

Here is Grandpa and Buddy Brad. That is what my husband called my son when he was a baby. Such a sweet and cute baby and he is a handsome young man today. He is also a great father to his children and I love him very much.

I SCREAM YOU SCREAM WE ALL SCREAM FOR ICECREAM

My niece Amber and Grandpa (my dad). That year he came to visit he lit up a cigarette and Amber says to him "Bad Gampa" (yes she did leave out the R and the D).

Unsuccessful.ONCE AGAIN!

This morning's run turned into a jog 1 mile then sprint/walk/jog 3 miles. I could not get my head in the right place. To much drama in my life. I need to get over it and move on! So I will! No more thinking, thinking, thinking! The gloom that is enveloping me needs to go. I need to get back in my "Kim you are wonderful mode" It is horrible for others to have to live with but oh so very good for me! So I am going to chin up....chant "Kim you are awesome" Look at my calendar and realize I have only 1 year to be able to get in shape for the Mini and start RUNNING. Clear my mind, my heart and make my body work! The only tears I want to be shedding are the ones from when my body is screaming "Stop Stop you are torturing me!" So HERE'S TO LIFE AND LIVING...GO KIM GO!

Miles on My Car for Adam

Kendra and I have logged in the miles! We have yard saled like crazy. We have found lots of cute outfits. But I have noticed something. The nicer the housing development the higher the prices. I do not think people have the whole yard sale thing figured out! Yard Sale stuff should be priced to sell....you are getting rid of stuff...it is not a profit making sale. Okay in my mind who goes to yard sales? People that are looking for a bargin! Middle class people right? If I wanted to pay $6.00 for a baby outfit I would go to the store. I asked a lady if she would go down on an outfit and she just stared at my dumbfounded as If I had asked her to disrobe, put a daisy wreath in her hair and dance down the street. She said "Why those are practically brand new!" So I guess she can just cart them back into her house when her yard sale is over. My mom told me this is the formula for pricing large ticket items...1/4 of your purchase price...then be ready to dicker. Now for clothing that is another matter....I think .25, .50 and .75 for normal things and 1.00 to 1.50 for something especially cute. My favorite yard sale dickering story is when I tried to buy a purse( of course we were in the "nice" part of town). It was a unique looking kind of purse (unique meaning I thought it is ugly) but I knew a family member would especially like it. The price $5.00 bucks. Now I don't like spending $5.00 on ugly so I asked her if she would take $3.00. She said "Well it was a gift" I might add it still had the tag on it! I said "Oh that's nice will you take $3.00 for it though". She said "It's been in my closet and never been used sooooo nooooooo I can't go down on it." Okay so what's up?...it still had the tag...she never used it...probably never would...so why could she not sell it for $3.00. Needless to say I put it back and it is probably STILL in her closet. Now just to let you know, I do go to yard sales in all parts of town and I have found some really nice stuff from the "middle class" (which is me!) and it was CHEAP! Though I have found some odd things. My daughter and I were at a yard sale on Friday and she picked up a Ryan's (a buffet) nametag with the name Kim on it. It was $.25. She said "Mom you want to get this in case you ever work at Ryans" Hahahahah I have raised a comedian. To be fair though I can't rag on upper middle class yard sales all the time because I got some baby stuff from this absolutely sweet woman ( who lived in a BEAUTIFUL home)and it was CHEAP and in perfect condition. I really need to send her an email thanking her! But for the most part...the rule applies...the nicer the house the more $ you are going to pay for the stuff they have. You ask why do I keep going to the "nice" end if it sends me into a rant? Shouldn't I just keep to my own end of town and quit whining? It's because occasionally you will strike gold and find some nice wealthy woman that was graced with some good old fashioned yard sale sense. These are some yard sales guidelines I have come up with.
1. Do not base the price of your stuff based on the value of your home.
2. Do not sell things with your name, your children's names, dates and birth weights because NO BODY is going to buy it.
3. Have a sense of humor when we laugh at your baby's birth plaque and your nametags.
4.Do not throw your yard sale clothes on a blanket so they buyer has to bend over to sort thru the stuff. It is hard for preganant woman and their older mothers to bend over to look thru it.
5.Have change
6.Be willing to dicker

I had a yard sale once...never never never again...I don't care if I give it to somebody or it goes to the goodwill. I don't care if it is "practically new" and I could make money off of it. My last yard sale was a disasater and I ended up $10.00 in the hole. The family wanted a yard sale. Family members brought their junk over. Paid for ad, set up tables, put stuff out, oddly enough I could not part with hardly anything (hard to imagine) so I had hardly anything in it. It got late, people got hungry. I did not want to fix anything...paid for Wendys....there went my yard sale $. It rained (despite Buzz advising me it would be a lovely day). I had to put away stuff in the rain...it was all in my garage...WET BIG MESS! NEVER NEVER AGAIN!
P.S. When people started buying though I got "garage sale fever" and was running in to get stuff to sell of my husband's that I thought he did not need. He saw his boots...they were like new( he never really wore them often), I put a sticker for a $.25 on them. He removed the sticker and took his boots back in the house. He look offended. I TOLD him I was going to give him all the money for his stuff. He did not look any happier.

Well it is time to run. I am tired. My legs hurt. My head hurts. My eyes hurt. I do not want to run! But I know if I do not I will kick myself later. I must run in the morning because I do not run in the middle of the day or evening. I am a procrastinator so If I put it off it does not get done and there is just too much traffic out and people will stare at the poor pathetic woman that is panting and looking like she is in the throes of death. So I run while the town sleeps....Ususally I see very few cars on the weekends when I run early and during the weekdays when I run it is still dark so even when there is traffic they can't get a good looksie at my pain and agony . Time to shoe up!!! I hope Gwen Steffani can wake me up!

Saying Goodby/I Need to Run

Saying goodby is hard...I need to run.

Yeah Mom

Kudos for Mom for getting up two mornings in a row to go to the Y with NO wake up call!
Go Mommy!

I THOUGHT I COULD..I THOUGHT I COULD.DIDN'T

Sigh....I did not make my goal. Missed it by 2 lousy minutes. 3 miles in 38 minutes. I probably could have made my goal if I did not spend the first 5 minutes warming up by walking. I probably should do my warm up...THEN start my time. Oh well there is always next week. Saturday or Sunday is 4 miles. Tomorrow is spinning and boot camp...then yard sales with my daughter. I am playing hooky from work to go to yard sales. We are in hot pursuit of baby items. I am anxious for my little buddy to get here! Grandma (me) has her house full of baby stuff so ALL my grandbabies can come over and hang out and their Mommas and Papas don't have to drag a bunch of stuff with them. Being Grandma is AWESOME all the love and none of the work!
News of No Interest: We found a litter of wild kittens in our garage. Our dogs were going nuts trying to dig into a cubboard. My husband opened it up and there they were... 5 cute little kittens...eyes not even open. The mother has moved them now because of the dogs. (The dog actually had Momma Cat in his jaws but my husband saved her. She is fine!) At any rate it took her an entire day but she has moved them to (what I hope is) a more secure hiding place.

Wedding Update: My neice's wedding is 2 weeks away. I still have nothing to wear because everything I have tried on I look horrible in. Kendra and I will try looking for a dress tomorrow after yard sales. My neice still does not have her doves. I think her hope is dimming as Denise has stood firm on "Doves are a waste of money".

Phrase of the Day: "That guy has my bunny". Family can you guess who said this, when and what was happening?

Improvement

Wooo Hooo I did 2 miles in exactly 25 minutes. (5 minutes warming up walking included in that 25 minutes). I think my foot is holding up! I then did another mile of sprint walk so I would not stress my foot. My goal tomorrow 3 miles in 36 minutes. If I don't make it that's okay but I am going to try really hard! I will at least go for the three miles even if I go over time. Goal for Saturday morning 4 miles...no time stress...just 4 miles. Next week will up the Tuesday run to 2.5 miles, do 3 on Thursday, then just do 4 again on Saturday. The following week I will increase the Saturday to 4 1/2. I really want to do the 10k this October with an ulitimate goal of the Mini next May. Which means I really need to work because I was not born to be an "Athlete". I was born to be a sitter and reader.
Some considerations : I need to make sure I do not over stress my foot will trying to train and I really really really need to take off at least 15 pounds...20 would be great! I am not worried about "looking fat" I am worried about this extra weight putting a strain on my foot.
Oh my goodness I do rattle on about my foot...but this whole foot injury has just consumed me. I guess my family is right...I am obsessive. (Shrug) I guess better to be obsessive about working out then Taco Bell! Well better get to bed if I want to get up ready to run! Got my shoes, my clothes and music ready to go! To paraphrase Earl (off the show my name is Earl) 4:30 am comes early for a girl like me. Good night all...hoped you enjoyed my pictures and were able to stay awake while reading my incredible boring talk about running (or rather my version of running).

Jamie's Got A Gun

My husband created a gun toting Yosimite Sam. My son loves ALL guns! Even toy guns...he took my cap gun from me last year and would not give it back! You can see by the looks on their faces that they think guns are totally awesome. They go target shooting quite often...something I do not wish to participate in...see previous blog note on target practice/crouching in truck. James is probably about 8 years old. He is 24 now. By the way AMMO is expensive!

And the Parade of Photos Begins

This is me and my daughter when she actually loved and adored me AND thought I was the smartest woman in the world. I think she might love me now....maybe starting to adore but is STILL refusing to acknowledge that yes I am the smartest woman in the world.

Easter Fun

Well everyone is gone and the house is quiet...don't quite like it. I miss the noise and excitement. We had an easter egg hunt yesterday. Here is Abby, me and Ty on the hunt for eggs.

I AM WOMAN HEAR ME ROAR!

I DID 4 MILES NO WALKING! 45 MINUTES! I think the M&Ms I ate yesterday gave me stamina! I did the Rocky thing when I got to my house! I probably looked stupid did not care...overjoyed.

Go Kim Go

Yeah for Kim. My foot is getting stronger after 8 months! I added back in a third day of running this week. I was doing just Tuesdays and Saturdays/or Sundays. This week I added Thursday I did 2 1/2 miles at 12 miles per hour pace. Yeah Kim! I could have easily done the 3 miles because I had no foot or ankle pain whatsoever but did not want to push it. And I have no pain this evening! Go Kim Go! I thought just adding the third day was enough. This weekend I plan on doing at least 3 miles straight and then 1 mile of sprint/walk. So my week totals were Tuesday 2miles/1 mile sprint/run, Thursday 2.5 miles/1 mile sprint run, with a scheduled run for Saturday morning of 3miles/1 mile sprint/run. Also by Friday will have in about 2 hours of spinning, 2 hours of boot camp, 45 minutes of water power hour and an Hour and half of lifting. Also add in a little Misc. precor time. Can I add in my mall walking time? NO! For next week I may only increase the Tuesday to 2 1/2 mile then 1/2 mile sprint run. I will slowly add time and speed!
Enjoyability Factor of Workouts 100%

Updates:

Dental: I have decided that I am worth $6,500 and will be having the bone grafting done! Actually I think Susan had the $ right! I am worth a million bucks! Oh no here comes the ego....My next appointment will be just a root planing thing and then it will be time to schedule the first leg of my "Million Dollar Mouth Journey". As I have probably written before I am a big baby when it comes to pain and I will expect to be waited on hand and foot and will be eating Loratabs like they are Tic Tacs. I will be unbearable to be around. I will be cranky and evil (even more so then usual). Congratulations to my mother who has also overcome a major dental phobia and went to the DENTIST. She is going to be having some major work soon....I think maybe she might get excited about it when she finds out they will give her pain medication. Mom "Do you want a Darvon?" A Sob sob for my sister who had a root canal the other day and then the same day the tooth that had the root canal done BROKE off and she had to have it pulled after all. All that money down the drain! Poor Denise!

Grandchildren: My daughter felt her baby boy kick! Tyson just finished his first session of swim lessons and starts second session next week. I am so glad he is learning to swim. I think all children should learn to swim so they don't end up like me! I went to the mall this week to buy myself a dress and came out of the store with 5 outfits for "Adam", one Fisher Price Aqaurium for the Crib and a pull and play caterpillar.

Shopping for Dresses: Aggggg! It is horrible! No woman should have to go thru this. I tried on many many dresses and figured out pretty quick that I was going to look like crap in everything I tried on. There was one that I particularly liked the style but the material looked like drapery material. I will NEVER find a dress to wear to my neices wedding. I am going to go out and try again next week after I have had a suitable time to recover from the trauma of it all. The mirrors are VERY unkind. J.C. Penneys would certainly sell more dresses if the dressing room had mirrors that reflected the image of Jessica Simpson when gazed into. I need a magic dress, one that will lift, form and conceal.

Dogs: We gave the stupid dog a bath and he STILL stinks. Today when I came home I chased him around with a Febreez bottle. He really runs quite fast. I think I may attach an air freshner to his collar. Here is a picture of the dog that DOES NOT stink! My girl Lizzie. Well not really my girl because she far prefers my husband but I was the one that bought her (he picked her out though). She looks like a giant teddy bear.

Visitor: I had to stop blogging for a while to answer the door and one of the children I use to do daycare for stopped by my house. It was so nice to see her! Every once in awhile some of my daycare children will stop by to say hello! It is nice to know that they remember me and have fond memories of their years at my daycare. I think the last baby I had in my daycare is now 6 years old. It seems like years since I have had my daycare but in fact it has only been about 6 1/2 years. I raised many babies and have seen many children off to their first day of school. I really miss working with children. I would dearly love to be able to stay at home and take care of my grandchildren but that is just not possible (because I need income and I just could not would not charge to take care of my grandchildren) Tyson has asked me many questions about my daycare and he has remarked more then once that he "wishes he could have come to my house then".

Okay I am going to log off now because I have stretched my husbands good will to the breaking point by being on the computer almost all night. Please keep checking back because over the next several weeks we are going to be taking a walk into the past. Beware! Will it be your picture that makes my blog? What kind of pictures do I have in my possession? Hmmmm....we will see......

Be looking next week for the first of many!

Have a great day tomorrow!

Kim

I HAVE A SATURN IN MY MOUTH

I went to the periodontal doctor yesterday and he says it going to cost about $6500 for the oral surgery. That is the same price I paid for my car! I am not happy! I guess it costs so much because it involves bone grafting and other unpleasant procedures. Should I invest that much or just continue to see my family dentist and prolong things as long as I can. The problem of course is bone loss. My teeth actually have no cavaties whatsoever! But if I continue the bone will continue to deteriorate...shudder.... and then eventually over a period of time I will have nothing to hold my pearlie whites in place and then ...you guessed it...George Washingtons. I want the surgery...my spouse says no just hold out...my sister who has her own teeth problems is getting ready to drop $6000 in her mouth, her boss says each tooth is like a precious diamond. I tend to think like my sister's boss...I like my diamonds and they are in pretty good shape...its is just the ring itself that needs help. Would you throw away a whole diamond because the ring was bent or something...no you would have it reset! So what do you think? However, I can't keep thinking that $6,500 is alot of money! We don't have dental so this is going to be out of pocket money. We are not wealthy people but we do okay. I will have to juggle some things around by could probably come up with 1/2 of the cash now and then maybe if the it is possible do the other side of my mouth at the end of the year. So Fix or wait?
Boy I thought when I had the other dental work done that I would be done for a while but noooooo. My darn diabetic mouth. Okay I am sick of thinking about my mouth...it consumed me yesterday and put me in the worse mood ever! On to more pleasant topics.

Exercise: Sunday did 4 miles NOT successfully. Had to walk/run the entire route. It took about 50 minutes. I don't know what was wrong with me. Had no energy, could not control my breathing, my mind would not empty so I could enjoy it. For me part of this process is mental..If I can't get my brain to turn off I don't enjoy it...if I can turn "off" my brain then my enjoyability factor is tremendous. So my brain was "On", my muscles would not relax, my lungs would not expand, all in all it was 50 minutes of torture. Monday was much better. It was spinning and power hour. Yesterday pretty good. I did not get to work out as long because I had an 8:00 appointment and I did not even get to the Y until 5:15 and then have to go to the locker room, put my gear away...etc... Did 30 minutes on the treadmill. Got 2 miles in 26 minutes, which means my foot is holding its own. The last 10 minutes were spent doing sprints on the treadmill. Lifted which went well. Today is swimming. BLAH to swimming. The ONLY reason I continue to swim is that I hate it so much. That sounded odd didn't it? But my logic behind that statement is that by doing something I hate I teach my self discipline. AHH now it makes sense doesn't it?

Home Projects: My laundry room is still not empty. I just look at it and get overwhelmed. I am going to come home on my lunch break the rest of the week and spend 10 minutes each day getting that room cleared out. I need to get it emptied so we can start the remodeling process. I HATE HOME PROJECTS probably even MORE then swimming.

Weekend Plans: Attn: ALL Family Members: The Easter Egg hunt is at 4:00 this Saturday. Thought I am going to say come over at 3:30 and then we will color easter eggs first. The meal will be CrockpotTurkey and Dressing, Green Bean Cassarole, Maybe some Apple Salad, and Blueberry Cream Cake for Dessert. Attn: Brad, Natalie, James, Tasha, Kendra and Lucas we will have a dinner after church on Sunday...around 1:00. Ham, Scalloped Potatos, Corn, Broccoli, yeast rolls and Apple Pie for Dessert. Kendra don't forget we are going to do yard sales Saturday morning. I will be at your house around 7:00 am.

Okay it is time to pack up my bag and get my rear to the Y to swim....what a way to start my day. I hope it is not all down hill from there.

P.S. I have the Blues today! I must pick myself up!!! I wanted cookies yesterday to console myself but ended up eating peanut butter and crackers. Peanut Butter and Crackers do not heal the blues. Chocolate Chip Cookies heal the blues.
