Yesterday I had a remedial swim lesson. I leaned to blow bubbles in the water (which involved my actually getting my face in the water). GO Kim! Also learned how to flutter kick and to do a breast stroke. I did find that swimming involves a great deal of coordination of which I seriously lack! Breath, Kick, Move your arms, breath some more it is all so much...I am a move one body part at a time kinda girl. At an rate thanks to Mary Alice I have a good base to build on I just need lots and lots of practice. She also stated that I was "Enthusiastic". I think that is a nice way of saying, "Not so good but boy are you trying hard"
Shopping: Mission unsuccessful no wedding dress purchased, no boots for Kim, no dress for Kim (for my neice's wedding). We did find a nice bunting for "Adam" (at least that is his name for now) and a baby's first Christmas blanket(both on clearance!) We also had a nice lunch! No day of shopping is complete without stopping and having a nice lunch!
Grandchildren/Nieces: Stopped by to see Cariss and Tyson yesterday. See pictures I have posted. Tomorrow I will be picking up Tyson and my neice Amber, also accompanied by my daughter, to have a fun spring break day. I think we are going bowling and to CiCi's Pizza for lunch. Then if time allows home to make a craft! I always try to take one day off to spend spring break with them. Abby is too little to go (she is only 3) but I will pick her up one night this week or next and take her to dinner and to see the Easter Bunny at the Mall. When the weather gets nicer I plan on taking Ty for lots of bike rides. I think this year he is old enought to ride to the park! He already did a 3 mile bike ride with me which is a long way for an 8 year old....and he did not even complain once! He even gave a "Woo Hoo" when we were riding.
Well its time to get ready for church! I hope to get all things on my list accomplished today before I sit down to watch Xmen 2 (love the Super Hero Movies!)
Have a great day everyone!

Iron Maiden
I am slowly trying to turn myself into the "Iron Maiden" Saturday I did not one, not two but three exercise classes (back to back). One was Step...which I stink at! When everyone was on one side of the step I was on the other! I have no coordination and I looked like some strange puppet with my arms flailing around in the air...it was not pretty. Next body shop class which I was much more successful at. And finally tra la la la la SPINNING CLASS! After that I went to the grocery store, came home, put the groceries away, then took a TWO HOUR NAP! Bad Kim! Sunday I rested. Monday back up to SPIN and then to boot camp class. Tuesday 35 minutes on precor and 45 minutes of lifting. Wednesday 30 minutes on treadmill doing a 5 minute walk 5 minute jog program then 45 minutes of Aqua Power Hour (again something I stink at). Tomorrow is Precor/Lifting and Friday Spinning/Boot Camp. Saturday I am getting a remedial swim lesson from a very kind person at the Y that feels sorry for me because I am so terrified of getting my head under the water. Then hopefully after that will do a step class or some precor. No other classes though because I am going on a shopping trip out of town with the the girls. Perhaps Sunday I will take a bike ride! Okay enough about my BORING BORING exercise agenda...
Shopping :ToysR Us had some awesome clearance buys!!! Thanks to Melissa the Almighty Clearance Shopping Queen I got like $200 worth of toys for like $20.00.
Food: Being good and incredibly proud of myself because I have avoided eating ANY of the carrot cake that has been gracing my kitchen table. Current food cravings...Golden Delicious Apples. My poor husband has suffered this week. He had Chicken and Fish all in the same week. His vegtable intake is very poor...ONE serving of vegtables a day and that is not willingly!
Family: My neice's wedding is drawing near. I am taking my husband to get fitted for his tux tomorrow night. He will be quite handsome in his tux! As most men, he is less then thrilled about wearing a tux but I think it is good for a man to dress up once in awhile. My niece is stilling requesting doves and my sister has still declined to purchase (rent???) doves. I told her we could go to Meijers and by Parakeets for a couple bucks and it would be a whole lot cheaper then doves...we could even dust them in flour so they look white. Nobody appreciates my help!
Hopefully Sunday I will get to stop buy and see my grandchildren...I really miss them!
Clothing: Remember the coat (white and black with black fur collar)I was soooo excited about puchasing (on clearance no less) well I have been advised by more then one person that the coat makes me appear to be.....ummm somewhat of a woman of loose morals. I still thought I looked beautiful AND pure until a man in the our building asked if I had ever been to Vegas. Now I don't know if maybe he thought A] I looked like a Vegas Show Girl and was in town on vacation B]Was propositioning me and offering me a trip to Vegas because he was awe struck by my incredible beauty C]Was just making general conversation or D]Thought I was for sale and he thought a weekend jaunt to Vegas would be fun! At any rate I have removed the fur collar from the coat which has substantially toned down the coat and now I look like the prim and proper office worker I am!
Housework: I have decided that I need a maid ..which I cannot afford. So I guess I will continue to disregard the disorganization and filth that surrounds me. My husband says I have too many irons in the fire so I have decided to remove that item from my fire...current irons in fire...training for a 10k, blogging, whining (which really takes no effort on my part because I am so good at it), reading, learning to swim, oh and wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and Aunt.

The Sun is Shining and the Birds are Chirping
Thank goodness winter is coming to an end. I am sitting at my computer with my blinds open. I can hear the birds chirping and such a feeling of peace has come over me. I am off to step class this morning so that tomorrow morning if I do any exercise it would be a leisurely bike ride in the early a.m. or perhaps I will just sit my rather flat booty on the couch and drink coffee and read the paper. I did try so very hard to go without coffee this week and that was such a failure. I walked past our coffee shop downtown and my eyes rolled to the back of my head and my legs were shaking so I caved!!! Maybe next week I will try again. But I gave up Taco Belll should I have to give up coffee too? A woman can only take so much deprivation. Well time to do some token housework. I will try the old pinesol routine but I don't know how much longer I can pull off "the house smells clean so it must be clean" routine. I think the cobwebs are gonna blow my act. Sigh.... I may actually have to do some work..... Hint for other slovenly wives: candles and dimmer lights also are wonderful tools!
PROMISE: I faithfully promise to keep my desserts at a total of one for today.

Dr. Kim M.D. (Madly Delusional)
Okay my foot hurts AGAIN. I really really thought it was Plantar Facitis but after much research I believe it is Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome. The pain is in the right place (side of ankle running to the arch). It does not hurt more in the morning (which ruled out the planter facitis) and it does burn and sting. If I go easy on it it does not hurt but if I start pounding on it hard...pain and if my husband accidently strikes my ankle then SHOOTING pain! I am going to my mother's chiropractor because he says he deals with that AND he is a runner. I want this fixed...the upside is I think it should be fairly easily fixed because it does not really hurt alot when I walk unless I walk excessively. The precor does not bother it especially unless of course I have ran on it and it already hurts. I WANT TO RUN AND I WANT TO RUN AT LEAST THREE TIMES A WEEK WITH NO PAIN! So off I trot to the Doctor. Hopefully he will give me some exercises and some kind of orthotic that will instantly heal me and in fact make me go zoom...well I guess I could settle for no zoom if I could at least PUTT PUTT at a reasonable speed.
Updates:
Food: Had an absolutely horrible food day on Saturday. If it did not jump away from me I ate it. I literally ate till I was sick. I laid on the couch and could barely get up from my back I felt like one of those roly poly bugs when you put them on their back. I was trying to get up and my legs were just waving around finally I just rolled off the couch....How sad and pathetic is that! Sunday, however, much better. I actually ate a really supper and not a dessert for supper. The week before I had a candy bar at 5:00 on Sunday night and then felt so guilty that I had to forego dinner to make it up....so Monday morning I had no energy and could barely lift my own legs. My lunch for Sunday not so good...2 bowls of super sugar crisp with no milk. But no desserts all day long. Dinner Ham and Beans with lean practically fat free ham...Pure protein dinner. Next week I am going to conquer Saturday! Like I said I am a good diabetic M-F but the weekends stink! If I can control my weekends the weight should start coming off again. I spend my whole week undoing the damage I do on the weekends. I am a GLUTTON. I need to wear an iron mask on the weekends! TODAYS MEALS: 1/2 CUP EGG beater with some fat free cheese and fresh spinach, 1/2 cottage cheese and some baby carrots, SNACK: 6 Triscuits and 1 container carb controlled yogart, LUNCH: Bowl of fresh cauliflower and broccoli, 2 T light Ranch, 1 Apple and an Egg Salad Sandwich with carb controlled bread and fat free mayo. ymmmmm (in sarcastic tone). Afternoon Snack will likely be 1 cup oatmeal or maybe an orange. Dinner will be Pork Cutlett on grill, Baked Sweet Pototo, (with Splenda Brown Sugar) and Sauteed Zucchini, Squash and Onions and cooked apple for Dessert (ymmm on apple for real). As you can see I like to eat! I have a large appetite and I have to pick foods I can have bulk of...for me it is all about quanity...quality be darned...give me VOLUME! I would rather eat a pound of mud with 2 tablespoons of whipped creame then ONE MEASLY COOKIE! and Fyi if anyone cares I like my biggest meal to be at night!
Grandchildren: Tyson and Carissa came over to see Grandma and Grandpa. Grandpa fed Carissa a bottle and I played cards with Tyson. Tyson is a card shark.
Husband: He says I should quit exaggerating on my blog...HE IS NOT SCARED OF MY MUSCLES! Maybe intimidated would have been a better choice to use???? I will ask him.
Dogs. My mom says she feels sorry for Lizzie because I never talk about her. Lizzie does not stink!
Chicken: My headless chicken disappeared! (See previous post on chicken) I asked my husband if he had seen my chicken and he said "You mean the one without the head hanging from the Keyrack?" I replied "Yes that would be the one" He says "I threw it away...did you want it?" Yes Yes I wanted it otherwise I would have thrown it away myself...silly man! My son has offered to replace the chicken that he so cruelly decapitated...sigh...he will probably just cut the legs off the new one....Maybe I will go and cut the head of one of his stuffed Georges and put the head on a stick and post it in his front yard.
Okay back to work....I love to blog.....it vents all my inner feelings...it is sooo much cheaper then therapy.

UP ALL NIGHT SLEEP ALL DAY!

Being a baby must be exhausting. I laid her down and not even one eyelid flutter. She did spend her awake time being utterly charming and full of personality. I asked her if she wanted to go shopping with Grandma and she did this HUGE smile. I told her Grandma has credit cards!!! Carissa got to visit with her Great Grandma Casey today!
Updates:
Mother: So very sick with bronchitis. Yuck she has been in isolation because I refuse to be around her till she is healthy...poor Mommy! I took her some Taco Salad the other day but would not go into her house just handed it to her thru the door. A daughter's love can only stretch so far...I now have two things I will not do for my mother 1}Will not touch my mother's feet...blah she will have to sandpaper off her own feet 2}Will not hang with her when she is hacking up a lung.
Daughter: Pregnant and she is having...............................................................A BOY! He was quite the cooperative young man and flipped right over to show himself off. Due date August 31. Both of his parents are bowlers and I just happened across a bib that has a bowling ball and pins and the word "Strike" on it. Could not pass that up!
Son and Fiance: Getting married the first week of November we will be having a wedding reception the week before Thanksgiving. Attn: Family put this on your calendar!
Niece: My neice Amanda will be getting married on May 5. It is going to be a totally lovely wedding. My niece Amanda wants to release doves. My sister says she will not pay for doves. I told my niece if she had doves I will make sure I bring a cat. Niece did not look amused...Aunt Kim laughed her butt off. A few other things her mother will not pay for: Ice Sculpture and Open Bar!!! I say open up your check book sister dear and lets have the open bar!!! Just kidding...I don't drink...I prefer my calories in food form!
Dog: Zedo stinks!
Grandson: Is going to be a future Donald Trump (though with much better hair). He counted his money and took it to the bank to start a savings account. The teller counted the change and gave him a deposit slip showing he deposited like $13.00 (rounded). He questioned the teller because he was sure he had like $15.00. She checked it again and in fact he was right (and according to his Mom he had been counting that money for days on end). He told the teller that he could count money better then she could and she went to college and he was only 8 years old. Hahahahaahah. That is a kid that is going to be buying Grandma Kim a Mercedes for her birthday someday!
Saturday Activity: Went to the country and tromped thru the woods with my honey! It was a beautiful day for tromping thru the woods. He then did some target practice . I sat crouched in the truck as he did target practice because I was scared a bullet would bounce off of whatever he was shooting at and strike me in the middle of my forehead. He has assured me that that is not a possibility but it still freaks me out.
Fitness: No exercise today...did a little stretching in the a.m. Then did the wood tromping thing. I had every intention of doing the 3.5 miles but my mind and legs were saying no no no Saturday is our day of rest. So I listened to my legs and my head and gave in...but they might as well not even bother complaining tomorrow because we are going whether they like it or not! So foot you better be ready because pain or no pain you have a job to do!
The Girls: I miss the girls so much! I have not had the girls at my house for quite awhile...so Little Debbie, Dolly Madison, and Betty Crocker we will schedule a date soon and you will have my undivided attention!
Phrase of the Day: "Are you going to eat that?" I have found that phrase not to actually question whether the person is going to eat it or not but it is more of a forewarning that the person uttering that phrase is actually going to eat whatever it is whether you are planning to eat it or not. Why I know this is true is because I bought my husband three chocolate chip cookies the other day which he did not eat within what I thought to be a reasonable time frame. So I then asked "Are you going to eat that" and before he could say yes or no I had the bag opened and one of the cookies swallowed whole.
Got to go my husband made dinner. His specialty.....Frozen Pizza...nothing says love like a pizza in a box.

WHAT A SAD SAD RUN
Okay that was the worst run ever!!! Only 3.62 miles and I had to stop and walk like 6 times. I am officially banning sugar from my weekend diet. I ate nothing but crap yesterday and it showed this morning. I could barely lift my legs. I was huffing and puffing like a 90 year old woman (maybe worse!). Next weekend I am making a box of sugar free pudding and I can eat the whole box in one sitting and that would still be better then eating the other stuff. I have decided I need to eat structured timely meals on Saturday and stay on my program. No program=BAD KIM. Hardly any protein yesterday, mostly carbs, and no vegtables or fruits, bad day for a diabetic. I had NO energy. On the flip side I am over my cold and feeling back to my old self!!!! Slept good! My totals for this week:
Monday: 1 hour Power Hour
Tuesday: 3 miles and 45 minutes lifting
Wed: Off/Sick
Thursday: 2 miles and 45 minutes lifting
Friday 1 hour Power Hour
Saturday: REST
Sunday: 3.65 miles...poorly
Enjoyment Level of Exercise: 0!
Outlook for Enjoyment Upcoming Week: 100% improvement.

My son cut the head off my chicken
I have a rubberchicken on a keychain and it hangs on my keychain rack. My son, James, looked at it and picked the scissors and said he was gonna cut the head off! What kind of sick demented person have I raised ? I warned him not to behead my rubber chicken and then he LAUGHED and decapitated my chicken and then he LAUGHED when the head flew across the room and struck me! Now I have a headless chicken hanging from my keychain rack... I keep it there to remind me that my son is owed one prank:
Past Family Pranks:
Daughter: Dumped hot sauce on brother's tongue when he was sleeping. Brother jumped up screaming "What the heck have you done to me" (language cleaned up for the public). He then ran to the kitchen sink to douse his mouth with water. He then chased after his sister who fled for her life.
Son: Tied bread pans underneath his sister's car. She starts driving hears the sounds pulls over sure that her transmission is falling out. She then calls and accuses me of doing it....like I am going to crawl under her car in the middle of the night to prank her. Told her not me but was I was impressed with the prank!
Sons: Yes plural, ganged up on Aunt Denise and Saran Wrapped her car shut with her big outdoor rocking chair saran wrapped on top....Aunt Denise has been the victim more then once....they also took a box of like 500 plastic forks and poked them in her yard...upside for the boys on this prank is that they also made their cousin suffer, because Aunt Denise made Amanda (her daughter) go out and pull them all up out of the yard.
Me: Rubberbanded the handle down on the sink house so when my husband got a drink of water he got doused.
Husband: I was laying on the bed which is right near the window. I was reading a book (when I read a book I am oblivious to all). He silently opened the window and poked me with a big stick and about gave me a heart attack.
Me and Mom: Painted G-Pa's Richard face with makeup while he was sleeping. Mom held my shirt so I could dangle over the top of G-Pa. It was hard to do because we were both laughing. I thought she was gonna drop me and I could not keep my hand steady from giggling.
I have such a demented family....One should never never fall asleep while there are family members about. We laugh and plot and plan. When Mom feel asleep in the car on the way home from an out of town trip we were taking pictures of her in her sleep mode...which ain't pretty...mouth open, snores emitting etc....We then decided we should just leave her somewhere on the side of the road or on someone's doorstep...like and unwanted litter of kittens...hahahaha The pictures were great and if Denise still had them on her camera I would post them on this blog...Lucky for Mom they have been long deleted.
Okay I am guess I am sufficiently awake to attempt 4 miles this morning. I gotta go tape and wrap and get dressed. It is COLD outside and what stinks is that I can't even wear a coat to start because within 1 mile I will be burning up. So the first mile I spend freezing my butt off. I think it is like 23 degrees. Brrrrrrr
Next week I am starting the inner peace class (yoga)...wanted to do an endurance class but it started last week and I was sick so I missed the first two classes so figure it is too late now. My husband wanted a stretching class anyway so this will be okay I guess.
Okay I have procrastinated yet another 10 minutes so now must put the coffee down and face the cold cold outdoors. This weather stinks...I will be griping about the weather again when it starts getting over 50. I hate cold but I hate heat with a passion!
Speaking of passion the coat I have been longing for was on clearance..finally..I love it! My son says I look like a woman of ill repute when I wear it. I LOVE COATS, JACKETS and BLAZERS almost as much as I love running shoes. I have a man's blazer that I wear and I love it! The girl at the office says I look like I am wearing an old man jacket. I told her it WAS an old man's jacket.
Okay NOW I am going out to run. Why oh why can't I be an effortlessly thin woman. Why must I work my butt off to be "average size"? Is it fair that I am not only not "hot'" but have the fat gene as well?? And as hard as I work I should totally look like Shania Twain! I guess I am more of the Minnie Pearl type girl...hey even Minnie Pearl is thinner then me...I have been gentically ripped off!!! Hmmm who should I thank for that...MOTHER!!!!!

GO KIM GO and I CAN'T BREATH
Yeah I did 4 miles on Sunday, 3 on Tuesday and 2.06 on Thursday and WITH NO SIGNIFICANT FOOT PAIN! Go Kim Go! You might wonder why only 2 on Thursday? because all I had to do was 30 minutes and I could go slowlyyyyyy because I have one heck of a head cold and I cannot get any air through my nasal passages. So spent 5 minutes warming up and 5 minutes cooling down and the rest jogging slow as I gasped for air. Yesterday I was unable to work because I was sooo sick. I only made it thru 10:45 am at work and had to go home. My head hurt, my nose was stopped up, I had a fever, I was lightheaded and my skin hurt...I went home and went to bed...slept till 5:00, ate dinner (because heaven knows there is NO illness that can supress my appetite) went back to bed till 4:30 am. So I have been cranky from being sick and missing my workout yesterday so today all I had to do was put in the time....did not have to be good...just do the time. So I am feeling mighty proud of myself to be working out on what feels to be my deathbed. I did find that when you workout when you are sick you sweat a whole lot more!!!!!
10K:I am going to start training for the 10k because I think I can handle it now. I am not going to worry about speed. I just gotta finish the route! On the other hand this training shedule should help me signicantly improve my 5k time (which stinks). Ah time to go back to work....this is a very sickly office....my poor boss...his wife will need to douse him with Pinesol before she lets him the house because both myself and my coworker are ill.

Soreness from Head to Toe
Friday was an awesome boot camp class. Not one part of my body was dry! The result extremely sore and stiff body. By last night I didn't even want to move. I just laid in my recliner and even if I moved a leg it hurt. AWESOME CLASS! Today I aim to get outside for a little run even if it hurts and I know it will. Yesterday I went to do the split times for the Y 10K run. Those people are inspiring. Some of the people are so fast and strong they just whipped by me without appearing to be in any pain and discomfort. Others you could tell were giving everything they had! Some of the people were quite surprising. One little man who looked to be at least in his mid 60's was hauling butt and in the top 20. He certainly did not look like the "average runner" but boy did he move. During the entire race I was eaten up with envy because I too would like to be at the level. I will just keep working at it...maybe by the end of the year I will be ready for the 10k pumpkin push but unless I can get my foot healthy and strong by then it won't happen. But I am going to continue working and stretching that foot and be persistant. I LOVE WATCHING RUNNERS! They all have different styles. It is just AMAZING...The one thing I noticed you will hardly ever see a chubby woman out there but you see alot of chubby men??? Any insight on this? I myself am still a chubby woman and I feel very out of place because almost always I am one of the larger woman on runs. Maybe that is why? The chubby woman feels out of place while a chubby man will huff and puff and not give a darn what people think??? I say STAND UP WOMAN OF CHUB AND JOIN ME! COME HUFF AND PUTT AND SWEAT WITH ME SO I DO NOT STAND ALONE IN MY FIGHT FOR HEALTH AND FITNESS.
Okay off my rampage about the plight of the chubby woman and back to the race I don't know why I had to do split times because the people that were interested in time had their own watch and despite my giving their times they looked at their watch anyway. I think alot of people did not care about split times...just finishing and final time. At any rate aside from being eaten up with envy I had a fun time. They have one more training run which is a 15k. I think I will sign up to work that one also.
After the race I stopped by to see my grandchildren. Just one was at home and she was actually awake. The last times I have gone over she has been in some kind of baby stupor where you could not wake her for anything. WHAT A BEAUTIFUL GIRL SHE IS. She gave me the cutest little baby smile when I picked her up and I just held her and my heart was filled with love.
We were suppose to have a birthday party for my husband last night but alas he is sick. So we have rescheduled it for tonight. Hopefully he will be adequately recovered. You really must be in good health in order to have family gathering with our family because we are a loud and rowdy group. Almost all of us take aspirin in anticipation of our gatherings. We laugh and insult and laugh some more.
Blah it is timed to get dressed, taped, braced and go outside for a run. I think since I ate mostly junk yesterday that this is going to be a difficult run! Please send thoughts of fastness and strength to me as I battle thru this run!!!

GIRL SCOUT COOKIES ARE EVIL
Aggg it is girl scout cookie time and yes I bought some...all in the interest of helping the girlscouts of course. I thought I could be strong. I was wrong. The first night I got them I ripped the box open and devoured several of each type...okay more then several. I then had my husband lock them up in our gun safe and told him under no circumstances was he to give them to me before the weekend. Does Friday count as the weekend? If not it does now. My husband poor man was sick and obviously delirious because when I asked him where was the key to the gun safe...HE TOLD ME! Now I good diabetic girl would NOT have gotten the key and reclaimed her cookies. While I am an awesome diabetic girl on the weekdays by Friday I am teetering on the edge of the pit of gluttony...by Saturday morning I am falling and by Saturday night I have usually plunged completely to the bottom. I then spend all Sunday painfully crawling my way back up and out of th pit. Okay back to the girlscout cookie saga...Friday night I gorged on cookies till I felt sick. So Saturday morning I plated the remaining cookies up and took them the Y for a snack for the people doing the 10k training run. It pained my soul but I turned my cookies over with a smile. Now I just have to avoid going to all public places to avoid the girlscouts who are trying to kill poor diabetic Kim by offering to sell her yet more cookies. My advise to all...AVOID WALMART...they send their most cut throat cookies sellers to Walmart. I believe they pick the cutest of the cute and send them to Walmart where there is a high volume of traffic. Those little girls might look cute and adorable but their goal is to break my will! They come up and ask oh so cutely "Would you like to by some cookies?" I usually tell them that I should not have cookies because I am not suppose to eat sugar. I really don't know why I give them a reason but I do. I think they must get a badge for mind control. They usually look so crestfallen that I mutter "Okay maybe just one box". But the worst of it is the whole scenerio is played out when I come back OUT of Walmart and usually it is a new little girl so I can't even say "Oh I just bought a box from you". So before entering any store I scan the outside for signs of girlscouts or people coming out of the store with boxes of cookies....***inside information**** sometimes the girlscouts are lurking within the story so be wary!!!

Dude Looks Like a Lady
Well one comment to many and now the lady next to me in core performance class calls me "Dude". Who do I have to thank...my son James.... I was laughing and telling her the story how my son said "Mom you have Dude Legs" and she thinks it is hilarious and now calls me "Dude"
Fitness: Foot hurt Tuesday after running on it for about 3 miles. I really think that stretching is going to help alot because the pain is weird...like I have said before it is like a have a rubberband inside my leg (that goes underneath my arch) that feels like it is pulling...thus causing a throbbing. I am going to keep stretching and my husband and I are going to start a stretching class since core performance has ended.
I am also working the 10k race this weekend. I am assigned to the 1mile split time...hope I don't mess it up. The race director said all I have to do is read the time off the watch and yell...she said she knows I can yell...can I read??? Work out for the week so far:
Sunday: 3 miles on treadmill (slow run)
Monday: 1 Hour Boot Camp Class
Tuesday: 3mile outdoor run (again slow), 45 minutes lifting, 45 minutes core performance
Wed: 45 minutes Water Boot Camp Class
Thursday: 30 min (3.5 miles) on precor, 15 minutes on treadmill (slow only did a little over a mile...legs burnt out from precor) 45 minutes lifting, 45 minutes core performance.
Friday: 1 Hour Boot Camp Class
Nothing new on the home front.... FOUND another sign of a Mouse...so I am on the hunt...I will find it...I will destroy it.... That little mouse is welcome to stay in the garage but he has crossed the line when he crossed my threshhold. So a hunting I will go...I think once I catch it I will stuff the little guy and display him to warn other little mousies what happens when you enter KIM'S DOMAIN. I think his yummy death treat will be rice krispie treats... Rice Krispies on a trap...sounds deadly delicious.

Clarification
Thought I better clear a point up. The only reason my niece beat me in the sprint was because I had a twisted ankle and it hurt...she WOULD NOT have beaten me otherwise!
I HATE THE TREADMILL
Yesterday morning was COLD...with the windchill is was in the minus degrees at 5:30 am. I contemplated running outside...stuck my head out the door a couple of times...my husband said I was stupid and would freeze to death....I thought not...then I remembered my shoes have those nice little airvents and that my feet, in fact, would get frost bite. So like a good girl I hopped on my treadmill. I HATE THE TREADMILL. I pertually chant (inside my head of course) I hate the treadmill over and over and over. I tried the music. I tried lifting the blinds to try to fool myself into thinking I was outside. Of course after I was on it for 20 minutes and still had not reached my garage I think I figured out that I was going no place. When I did lift my blinds I saw the most disgusting thing...a spiderweb just full of flies....blah I thought I was gonna hurl...I guess I need to make dusting my laundry room a priorty.
On Saturday went to Walmart accompanied by my oh so cute grandson. I told him when we were going in that I was not buying him a toy we were just grocery shopping...I did not buy him a toy but somehow I ended up buying him groceries. He took home Frootloops, yougart, cheese crackers and sugar free gum. Evidently it was vitally important that he have the "All new Froot Loops with new golden loops".
Saturday night I worked our school carnival. That is the grade school all my children went to (the children that are now 24,25 and21). I have worked every year since the middle child was in kindergarton. I think they have me on a life time contract. At any rate, my son, his fiance, my daughter, her husband, my neice and I all worked. My oldest son took the baby so he did not work but walked around and showed off his beautiful baby. I won 12 free games of bowling, my son won 24 games of bowling (thru the raffle) and he won 38 bucks on the 50/50. My oldest son won this really nice board gift basket. Poor daughter won nothing but she had fun!
Sunday the entire family went to use their bowling coupons. I won the first game in a grudge match against my oldest son. He now owes me a steak dinner. I told him I would pick a place where I had a free appetizer coupon but he is gonna buy me dessert. I bowl so much better when I bowl for steak. We are the worse family in the world...we always have to "Beat someone" My son's fiance has truely become part of the family because at the end of the game she said "At least I beat Tyson"(my grandson) Hahaha Gotta love a girl like that...we have turned her! We don't care who we beat as long as we beat someone... My niece one time was all giddy because she beat me in a sprint...my mother looked at her and said "There is no pride in beating a 4o year old woman when you are 12" My niece said "I don't care I still beat her!"
Well time to go to Power Hour and work my poor sad body...

IRAN....sorta
Okay Tuesday morning I did a little over 3 miles...slow but did not stop once and walk...yeah Kim. However, Tuesday afternoon my ankle felt stiff and tight. I am going to keep up stretching it because it does not hurt so much as just feels tight...like a rubberband. So I am gonna stretch myself till I look like Stretch Armstrong...I stretch my foot in the morning before I get out of bed...I stretch at the Y before and after workout...I stretch at work while I am at the copy machine...and hoping that NO ONE walks in on me...because they are going to think I am nuts if they see me. But I figure instead of just standing there I might as well be doing calf raises and ankle rotations etc... Being outside instead of on a treadmill or Precor did me a world of good! I think it was more then worth the ankle stiffness.
MOOD UPDATE:My mood has been much improved....its strange but the only time I am in a really good mood is when I am outside running (or more like semi running) or am at the Y. I think I may be an endorphin junkie! Is is like drugs...the more you use the more you want...will I eventually one day be at the YMCA 24/7 to keep my high??? Do they have a 12 step program for this...will my family have to have an intervention?
WEIGHT LIFTING: I HATE DOING MORE REPETITONS AND LESS WEIGHT! My mind screams MORE WEIGHT MORE WEIGHT....However, I look down at my extremely large calves and biceps and try to remember that my husband does not find the female Hercules look sexy. Plus I think he thinks I am kinda scarey!!
FAMILY: Daughter...doing well...pregnant...still tired...poor girl. Eldest son....doing great at fatherhood...Youngest Son: Anxious to get married....to be married in November. Grandchildren...cute (nothing changed there). Dogs...annoying AND smelly...my house perpetually smells like wet dog...gross. I tried febreeze but it just smells like perfumed wet dog....even grosser (is grosser a word...it should be!)
Time to go now I am suppose to be cleaning house while my husband is taking a bath...I am not...I am going to wipe my counters down with Pine Sol so the house will smell like I have been cleaning it....bad Kim! I DO NOT LIKE TO CLEAN HOUSE WHEN I CAN BE BLOGGING OR ENTERING TIMES INTO MY EXERCISE SPREADSHEET. AGGGG water is draining...gotta log off and Pine Sol.....

Back from Indy to find out that I do not know what I am talking about. The guy did a gate analysis and while I overpronate it is not severe. So I had the wrong shoes which in fact were probably making me worse. He said I need a light stability/gel shoe and to get rid of all the other stuff. The rigid orthodic, the ankle brace. He gave a soft supportive orthodic and an asic gel shoe. He said if these shoes don't feel good to come back in 30 days and they will switch out my shoes and try another. So as soon as I have my first cup of coffee out I go to check out my spiffy new shoes. There was a really cool pair of purple ones but unfortunately they did not feel as good as the Aasics so I was a good girl and picked comfort over cuteness but it was a tough call.
I had a delicious dinner over at my daughter's house last night. However, I gave my self one heck of a stomach ache by eating mass quanities of the cinnamon swirl bread...ymmm now I will have to exercise like a demon today to make up for what all I ate yesterday! Because if I had just eaten at my daughter's that would not have been bad but when we went to Indy we went out to eat and then stopped at Donaldson's Chocolates on the way back home....BAD KIM.....
This afternoon I am heading over to my son's to see my grandson and grandaughter I will be taking pictures and posting them later so I can share the cuteness with the world.
Thanks again to my son and fiance for driving me to Indy. My poor little car she is use to puttering around town and my son said it was good for the car blah blah blah to make it go zoom on the interstate. I disagree and I am sure she was sobbing and shuddering by the time we got home. She will probably breakdown on me on the way to church to spite me for letting my son drive my "windup car" to Indianapolis. None of the men in my family like my mini Saturn and they grimace and groan while entering and exiting my vehicle.
Well off to try my new shoes.

There and Back Again
Where oh where has Poor Sad Kim gone? To the depths of depression and back again is where I have been. Well maybe I am not totally back but I am trying to focus and regain my joy for life. Assorted issues have been causing me problems:
Family, Health etc... I guess if I could have run then all the problems would have seemed not nearly as bad. But unfortunately for me my arch pain had finally started healing and boom twisted my ankle and had to be off of it for about 2 1/2 weeks. Those were the longest weeks I have every experienced....Just Eliptical...which I have a long standing love/hate relationship with. At any rate my foot is better and I have been slowly getting back at it. I did 2 1/2 miles on Tuesday and Thursday both slow but it felt good in a painful sorta way. Today I am going to a store in Broadripple to have a gait analysis done. I am almost positive that I need extra stability shoes but what the heck I will let an expert tell me. My son, James and his fiance will be going with me...because I am a big baby and am scared of the interstate. It's only gonna cost me a luch to get him to drag me up there....hope he eats breakfast first!
Lifting update: I feel like I am getting so strong...in my fact here is an exact quote from my son James, "Mom you're starting to look like a dude...you got dude legs...gross" So I guess I will back off on increasing the weights and start doing more repetitions. My husband has advised that a wife should not have bigger biceps then her husband...that comment just sealed the deal that I would not be increasing my weights but rather do repetitions....though it kills me because I really LOVE to lift weights. I especially love the bench press....
Running Update: Finally back but have to go slow while my foot continues to heal... I got to use my Yaks last week because of some light snow and ice...they were awesome....Matter of fact my foot felt great after that...probably because the Yaks were holding it stable.
Eliptical: I think my thighs have gotten bigger while using this machine...has anyone else had this problem? I start with resistance 9 to warm up then increase over time with keeping it mostly at 12 and hitting some 20's for total resistance...is this wrong? Any advise?
Power Hour Class: Love it!!!! I actually felt like I could do most everything because my foot is much stronger. I went in early Friday to use the, what I like to call,"The Whacking Ball" it looks like a medicine ball and it is on a rope. I whacked the heck out of the Y wall.... I visualized all my problems and whacked away for about 15 minutes. I was exhausted and much more relaxed after that.
Core Performance Class: Great and Ouch...enough said.
Pregnant Daughter Update: Preganant, grouchy and tired....but I still love her!!!
Well that is all for now....Off to Indy I go....

Poor Sad Kim.....
Okay I am in a feel sorry for poor Kim mood. Why does everyone in the world get to eat whatever the heck they want and I can't? As I am walking downtown I see people eating...just stuffing their faces and looking happy as can be....and I am heading back to the office to eat a disgusting salad, sandwich and apple. BLAH! I want to eat and I am most resentful of this body that can't have food AND REFUSES to run a 10 minute mile! You would think since I have been such a nice compliant diabetic that the very LEAST my body could do is let me have the 10 minute mile. I ran 3 miles yesterday (at 5:30 am.)and it was fun and relaxing but slow.....I had a great lifting session after my run and then in the evening I went to the Core Performance class (at 5:30 pm) and then this morning back up at 6:00 am to do my boot camp class. Tomorrow will hopefully be a 4 miler , providing my foot cooperates. Sunday I think I will take a nice bike ride. I have got to make a schedule for running, however, my schedule is at the mercy of how my foot feels...Once again showing how defiant my body is.... I must make by body obey my mind!!!!! My mind says "Kim you are a warrior...you are an athlete..." my body however giggles and says "Ha Ha...you fool" Okay back to work now...I will go and continue to be in the depths of depression due to my inability to consume cookies and cheese nips.....I guess I will go eat another apple...sigh......

In Search of Abs of Steel
Last night started a new class at the Y called Core Performance....kick butt class. I am not yet sore but look to be screaming in pain tomorrow. I am rarely sore the day after a hard workout...it is ALWAYS the second day. Needless to say today I am tired because I did the Eliptical for 45 minutes yesterday morning and got it up to resistent 20, then lifted...then had the evening class and then this morning was swimming (which I HATE). I was going to run but given as I reinjured my foot last Wednesday I thought I better give it some lower impact. For some reason I thought it would be a good idea to try to run without my inserts last Wed...thinking surely by now I do not need them...WRONG...even doing two miles I tore my foot up. It is feeling better again and I have learned my lesson...I have resigned myself to the fact that I am now flat footed and must always wear my arch supports. Sigh...now it is just a matter of letting the foot completely heal so I can actually do more then 4 miles....baby steps...that is what I keep telling myself. The mind is willing...but my flesh (in particular my foot) is weak.
Updates:

Oops her name
I have been calling her baby girl so long that is probably what I will continue to call her till she is 40! Her name is Carissa Joanne. Joanne is her maternal grandmother's name! I have already got my pictures uploaded to Walmart and will be picking them up on the way to the hospital. I may have to beat the other grandma over the head to get a chance to hold her! This child is going to be sooo loved and nurtured because she has lots of family within 10-15 minutes of her house!!!!

Back to business
Okay now the holidays are over...no more desserts...no more candy....back to once a week dessert. wah wah! I will tell you that I do feel every single thing I ate in my roly poly gut. When I run it just jiggles....what a horrible feeling. I have also given running alot of thought...and have decided that I really need to get off at least 20 pounds. I have been reading about runners alot and I noticed one thing all the woman are lots thinner then I am. I weigh anywhere between 166 to 171 and I think that is just too much weight on my poor stressed foot. Those extra pounds are making me slow and also putting my foot in additional stress. So my new years resolution is to take off a minimum of 10 pounds with an ultimate goal of 20. Lookwise I am not too bad because I am muscular and people are surprised when I tell them how much I weigh, but running wise I am in sad shape...too big to be fast! Today I tried to do 4 miles and suffered. 4 times I had to stop and walk 100 steps and then start up again. It is probably because for the last two days I have had very little protein and lots of carbs...which for a diabetic is VERY bad...so I felt like crap and I ran like crap.
We had a substitute run our power hour class on Friday(Mike) and he made it very fun and at the same time gave us an awesome workout....we had to run sprints (for like forever)...not so fun...but then we played power hour muscial chairs. He put some chairs in the center of the gym and we had to run around the chairs and when he blew his whistle had to try to get a chair....if you did not...drop and do push ups....I laughed my butt off....when I was not the one doing pushups. We also had to seal walk to half court(using user upper body to "walk" across the gym while dragging you feet...sounds easy...it is NOT) then sprint the other half court to the end where there were hula hoops which we had to hula for one minute then sprint back to the beginning. By the time we were done I was dripping in sweat and leaving a sweat trail everywhere I went. AWESOME class. Last week I also spent some time on the eliptical which I love...love that resistent...increase it till my legs are screaming...loving it! You know that Mellencamp song...Hurt so good....that is how I feel about workouts...I love the tired, sore feeling....I think I am sick in the head!!!! When I had to stop running completely for two weeks I felt so odd because nothing on me felt stiff or tight....I missed it terribly.
Okay so ends my holiday and all the talk of exercise has got me all pumped up...my new year wish is for a year of awesome workouts, increased running endurance and speed, some great muscle definition and a nice strong body.... GO ME!

We had a Holly Jolly Christmas

Ah Christmas....my favorite time of year...I love the excess of it...shopping, eating, shopping, eating, gift giving, lots of family, lots of food, lots of love. My sister found me a set of Buffy the Vampire DVD season 1-6. That is my secret shame...I am a fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. When it was it on(Tuesday nights from 8-9) I would accept no phone calls. Awesome gift...found by my sister at a yard sale for a very good price! Love it! I also love my yaks, and my Chi running book from my sons Brad and Jamie. Kendra thanks for the blowdryer (so now I can get ready in record time with the high watts) and now I do not have to use Qtips to put my makeup on as she also bought me a make application kit! ah Kendra what was wrong the Qtips..hahahahaha. AND TA DA my husband bought me a belt......A belt...I can't believe I can wear a belt now! He also bought me two really nice comfy cords and a sweater.....I had other gifts as well those were just the ones I got a kick out of! Well now that Christmas is over I have been having cookie withdrawl and will likely have to go into cookie detox. I can also feel my cookies when I run...blah they jiggle and wiggle when I run!
Yet more excuses why I have not blogged

Okay, the wedding reception was after this but I had to post my son's birthday party...where a poor innocent woman was attacked by her grandson with silly string....Her crime...taking the first bite of birthday cheesecake before the birthday boy got his....I warned him not to shoot his grandma but my warnings were to no avail...one grandma covered in silly string.
Wedding Reception

Oh I am such a very bad blogger...but then I have very good excuses.... birthdays, wedding receptions, christmas eve, christmas day, new years day.... We had my daughter's wedding reception on December 10, 2005, despite the bad weather we were still able to have a reception. It was quite lovely if I must say so myself. We had a shoestring budget but I think we did an excellent job and stayed within our budget.

whew I made it
The 5K was rough. Since my foot had been healing I have not been going as far but I finsihed...no walking...time of 33.43. Next time I will do it in 30 MINUTES. My body will comply and I will accept no less. I am going to work hard this year!!!! I am going to work on a training program over the next week. I would be open to any suggestions on training....

MY MAN

Just wanted to include this picture of my handsome husband. He is at one of his favorite places...the woods. He loves to fish and tromp around in the woods. He will spend hours in the woods..hunting, fishing, rock hunting. I only will go with him in the fall...all the other times...there are too many bugs, its too muddy, its too hot...etc....He spends most of his weekends in the woods throughout the summer. Last summer I was whining (which unlike running I excel at) I whined "How come you never ask me to go" He reponds," Why don't you go with me today!" I respond VERY quickly, "Oh no it is too hot maybe another time!" Poor man he just can't win.
MY LOVELY BINGO PLAYING FAMILY

I am the one sitting on the couch. I am the bingo caller. The young lady that is appears to be disgusted during bingo time is actually having fun...she just has not yet had a bingo and Roger (my neices fiance had three bingos in a row). I am the one on the sitting on the couch. I got to be the bingo calller. We played White Elephant bingo. Which means everyone brings something from home that they no longer want and we use the items for prizes. We had much more family they were just in the other rooms.
Help! Sleep Eludes Me!
Ack! I can't sleep I am too excited and nervous. I know that a 5K is not much for most people but it is for Poor Kim! This is only my second run ever and I want so much to improve my time! Last time was 36 mins and a few odd seconds. However, I have alot against me...weight, sore foot, general sore muscles (got spunky in the weight room this week), and the run does not start till 9:00 am. That stinks because I am an early morning girl. My favorite time is 5:00 a.m. I am also depressed because I am one of the slowest woman out of our group at the Y. I do have one edge....the cold. The other woman hate the cold and I LOVE it. Maybe that will slow them down a little. The other day is was 21 degrees and all I had on was a short sleeve shirt and a hoodie...by the time I was done it was all I could do not to rip the hoodie off because I was hotter then heck. I only kept it on because I was all sweaty and did not want to catch a cold (which I still do not think is caused by that...but better safe then sorry). Okay I am going to post a picture of our Thanksgiving fun and then try to go back to bed. I am going to dream of fleet feet! I am going to dream of myself breathing well and staying strong! Does anyone know how long it will take my breathing to get under control??? I am sick sick sick of sounding like a three pack a day smoker when I don't even smoke! Sprints??? Patience? Both???? Also just to let you know how dedicated I am becoming...I gave up Christmas Shopping last night so I could rest my legs for today...now that is dedication!

Insanity, Gluttony and More
I have been advised that I have not blogged on matters of general interest so here we go:
Day after Thanksgiving Shopping: Yes I was one of the insane people that stood outside of Best Buy at some horribly early hour. However, my sister is much more insane then I am....she was outside Best Buy by 11:30 p.m. the night of Thanksgiving to save us a spot in line so that I could get a $150.00 computer. I did not get to Best Buy until 2:00 a.m. Oh my...my sister did suffer because it was colder then cold. At 11:30 Thanksgiving night there were already 55 people ahead of her. Because of my sister's ability to withstand the cold and her incredible zest for a bargin hunting I was able to purchase the $150.00 computer. However, as usually, our joy was struck down because BEST BUY inadvertently resold our computers. We had left them at Best Buy for the Geek Squd to upgrade our memory and somehow they thought they were extras and SOLD them. So now both my sister and I are awaiting Best Buy to deliver us two more computers. SIGH....it was just to good to work out easy! At any rate back to the incredibly cold weather. Some people actually had like a little campsite set up...complete with Kerosene heater as for the others all you saw were mounds of blankets with what I am assuming were human forms under them. What a site...next year if the lure of a bargin overtakes my common sense I am going to take pictures....what a sight. Denise did remark while waiting that our $150.00 computer might wind up being a $1000.00 computer after we pay for the doctor's bills, medication and hospitalization from catching pneumonia. (oops can't spell that big word). All that suffering and I still as of today do not have my $150.00 computer.
FUNNY COMMENT FROM MY MOTHER'S DOCTOR: Mother at Doctor's office. Doctor says, "Do you exercise". Mother "Why yes I do" Doctor says "Do you break a sweat" Mother responds: "I do not sweat" Doctor slam dunks her" Perhaps you should" Hahahahahahaah.
My Mother's Delusion: My mother thinks she is a princess... She was born to be a princess. I told her that not one woman in our family is "Hot" enough to be a princess.
Gluttony: I was very hungry the other day because it was past my lunch time. So when I was at Walgreens I bought some sugar free peppermint patties. I then proceeded to eat the entire bag ( I am a GLUTTON). I should have read the back of the bag. It clearly states,"Individuals sensative to sugar substitutes may experience a laxative effect." THE BAG TELLS NO LIES! Runner Susan if you read this don't bother spending more money on yourcolon cleansing product just buy some of the sugar free Peppermints. You can get them this week at Walgreens buy one bag for $1.99 get a second bag of one penny. I can promise your colon will be completely empty within 24 hours (painfully so). So once again I have harmed myself thru gluttony.
RUNNING and EXERCISE: Saturday is the 5 K Sleigh Bell Run. I am so excited. I want so badly to beat my time from last year. Last year was my first run and it took me 36 minutes and some odd seconds. This year would be wonderful if I could make it in 31 or 32 minutes. However, that is unlikely as my foot is just now allowing me to run outside. Poor Kim I was built for endurance not speed. I love to run I just wish I was better at it. However, I am very proud of my work in the weight room. I can now leg press over 220 pounds...woo hoo...I am going to have some kick butt legs. My husband says my calves are disgustingly muscular. I love it! I can kick open a door....( I actually did this in a fit of rage one time...but that was a long time ago before I started lifting so now I could probably kick a door in and make it fly off the hinges) hahahaha. I am much more in control of my temper now. I have channeled my inner rage and feel no inclination to kick doors in now. Just knowing I can is enough!
Poker: My sister defends herself (see previous post). I will no longer believe a word that comes out of her mouth while at a Poker table. I will win all at our next game. I am reading Texas Hold Em for Dummies! I will be "All in" next time.
Pets: My female dog will not stay off my bed. I put a baby gate up..she somehow wiggles under it.. I raise it she jumps over it. She walks past me in the living room..smirks at me and waltzs her little prissy butt up the steps to my room and if I have left my door open (which I always seem to do) she flops herself on my side of the bed. My male dog has taken control of my couch! He lies on my couch and refuses to move so I can sit down. The other day I was actually able to get to the couch first and laid down . He came up to me whined and pawed at me. I told him to go away I had the couch first and I was NOT moving. He actually jumped on top of me did that circling thing dogs do before they lay down and then LAID down on top of me. He would not move...my husband had to drag him off of me. Now if gets to the couch first which he almost always does I have to go to the kitchen and knock on the door then he goes all crazy running and barking to the kitchen door like a crazed lunatic and I have to RUN into the living room to throw myself on the couch to save my spot.. He is getting smarter...he saw me head for the living room, outran me, jumped on the couch and GROWLED at me. I think the dogs have overthrown me and now rule my house. I will probably end up sleeping in their nice soft dog beds I bought for THEM.

IS THIS CHEATING?
Ok here is the question...Is this Cheating? (Denise are you paying attention?)
Location: Kim's Kitchen Table
Participants: Me, My son James, Son's Fiance Tasha and my sister Denise
Activity: Texas Hold Em
We were playing Texas Hold Em. It was Denise's deal. Due to a comment made by my son which alluded to the size of the Poker Players ( I tried towrite about it but you just had to have been there when it happened) my sister says " Just for that comment I am all in and I haven't even looked at my cards" Seeing as I HAD looked at my cards I went all in because what was the chance of beating my hand without even knowing what she had and I had what I thought to be a fair to decent hand. Well guess what? Her hand beat both James and mine. Okay so here is where the question comes in. The next day while shopping she said she had a confession to make. Her confession...she MAY have briefly glanced at her cards. She says this is good poker playing and I say CHEATING! What is your take on this???
Lesson Learned: Do not trust your sister when she is at the Poker Table. The woman has NO MORALS when it comes to gambling...hahahahahaha
Okay aside from my sad pathetic poker playing I had an awesome Thanksgiving with my family. Lots of food!!! Ummmm. Because I did 4 miles on my treadmill Thanksgiving morning I accumulated a pie credit and could eat a big piece of pie for free. I will now spend the next 3 weeks working for Christmas food credit! My aim is to accumulate enough pie credits to eat an entire pie on Christmas Day.
This morning thanks to Bonnie and Mike I actually had to hustle on my run. Even though they went very slow for them it was very fast for me. I think every once in awhile I need to have someone to run with me to push me...because I am like an old pickup truck...don't look so good, don't run so good...but can eventually make it to where I need to be.

I am so tired I could cry!
I am finally sitting down and taking a 5 minute break. Since I got home I have done nothing but cook cook cook in preparation for our Thanksgiving feast. As soon as I am done complaining and whining on this post I am going to finish peeling the last of the 10 pounds of potatoes. I am so tired but I am going to push thru because the more I do tonight the less I have to do tomorrow. Yesterday had a great relaxing run. For the first time in awhile I can say I actually enjoyed it! I felt pretty strong, my breathing was much better (after the first mile that is) and I actually was getting into it. I was still slow but my body was much more cooperative Now maybe I can start gaining some ground. Today was swimming day, as I have said before, I HATE SWIMMING! I do it only because it gives my foot a rest! I have made progress now...I do not have to wear the bubble belt. I still stay within an arms reach of the wall (in the deep end) but I am BUBBLE FREE! I like to think I sink because of my awesome muscle mass. But when I shared this tidbit of information with my fellow swimmers they laughed at me!!!! Ha shows what they know....they just can't see my awesome muscle mass because I wear a shirt and shorts into the pool...so I won't intimidate them with my awesome physique.
Special Note to my Daughter and Daughter in Law and Soon to be Daughter in Law: If one of you girls don't come over here and learn how to do Thanksgiving dinner you are all going to starve or have to eat at MCL when I drop over dead!
KUDOS: To my mother who has been making a very strong effort at Power Hour Class! She acutally almost sweated this week. She is truly seeking her inner warrior. A big thank you to her heart doctor who layed it on the line for her.
How True How True: Taken from the WLFI website from Mr. Food. This perfectly describes my Thanksgiving experience:
'Twas the night of Thanksgiving, but I just couldn't sleep.I tried counting backwards, I tried counting sheep. The leftovers beckoned, the dark meat and white,But I fought the temptation with all of my might.Tossing and turning with anticipationThe thought of a snack became infatuation! So I raced to the kitchen, flung open the doorAnd gazed at the fridge, full of goodies galore!I gobbled up turkey and buttered potatoes,Pickles and carrots, beans and tomatoes.I felt myself swelling so plump and so roundUntil all of a sudden, I rose off the ground.I crashed through the ceiling, floating into the skyWith a mouthful of pudding and a handful of pie.But I managed to yell, as I soared past the trees,"Happy eating to all - pass the cranberries, please!"
Bye time to peel potatoes.

LIFE LESSON
Eating an entire box of Shredded Wheat over a weekend will give you one heck of a belly ache!
Knock Knock Knocking on Heaven's Door
How ironic that just as I felt like dying on my run this morning that Axel Rose's rendition of Knocking on Heaven's Door came on. I cann't believe how much ground I lost while recuperating my stupid foot! Now parts of my body are at war with each other: My brain is the instigator it starts out with "I am so excited lets go for a run. I need to feel the endorphins...no no don't worry about coffee you can have a cup when we get back...it won't take long" So my stupid body complies..... 1/2 mile down the road my lungs start screaming" Help Help we can't breath! Stop Stop we are burning!" Then my knee joins in, "Ugh you big lug I am not made of titanium", if that is not enough then my foot starts yelling "Hey you big pig lose 20 more pounds your killing me down here" The then instigator turns traitor and starts whining" You didn't even let me have a cup of coffee" So then all the body parts joined forces and made me miserable the entire run!
ENJOYABILITY FACTOR FOR THIS MORNING: 0
PREDICTED OUTLOOK FOR TOMORROW'S ENJOYABILITY: 0
On the upside though I did finish without walking and even did sprints back the last 1/2 mile.
Yes as you can see I am in top whining moan! So lets see do I have anything else to whine out....hmmmm I believe I do! The house next door has been sitting empty for more then two years and we not seem to have a little mouse problem. I have set traps and that was pretty effective for awhile. However, the mice must have lost their craving for peanut butter and/or cheese because now the don't touch the traps...I know their still in my laundry room because they are still leaving their little calling cards. Blah! I have called the city and they still have done nothing about the house next door! Meanwhile my house is like a little mouse buffett (on account of my dogs and their dog bowls).
Updates:
Christmas Shopping: Ahhh it is only 5 days till BLACK FRIDAY! Enough said!
Thanksgiving: Food bought, Menu planned, House NOT CLEAN. (The upside is that my family does not care if it is clean as long as I have enough pie! I LOVE MY FAMILY FOR THAT!)
Birthdays: Today starts the parade of birthday cakes. My daughter's birthday is actually Thanksgiving day but we are doing it tonight. Then we have birthdays in the family the following days, Dec. 5, 7, 9, 18, and 22. Also throw my boss's birthday in that list too! I HATE birthday cake by the end of December as do my jeans.
Sleigh Bells" The 5k Sleigh bell run is December 3 and I believe I am recouped enough to handle it. Though the outlook on improving my time is dim as I am still very gentle with my foot.

WHATS UP WITH THE CARDIO?
I think my little hiatus (injured foot, despite doing other cardio work) has definetly put me behind. I only did 3.8 miles yesterday and thought my breathing would never get under control) It was all I could do to talk myself into finishing but finish I did. My legs weren't tired it was all the cardio thing (and a little mental). I tried to justify it by telling myself it had been 14 hours since I ate last...I am recovering still from oral surgery and foot injury...excuse excuse excuse!!!!I feel like I am starting all over which bugs the heck out of me since I have a 5k on December 3. I am also on the heavy side for doing this! I really really need to get off at a mininmum of 10-15 pounds. I probably should start measuring all my food again....BLAH. I am going to clean my house this morning and then just do a couple miles then do maybe 5 miles on my bike. Sometimes I feel like I will NEVER obtain my goal of being able to do a 1/2 marathon!!!! I guess not this May but I have targeted next May 2007 I am going to work for it with a PASSION! In the meantime I think I am ready to work on some sprints maybe that will help bring my cadio back to life....the only thing is it STINKS doing sprints by yourself. Maybe I can talk someone at the Y into helping me!!! My problem is the people there are either to advanced for me and the others are strictly walkers. There seems to be NO ONE at my level!
Updates:
Wedding: My daughter was married on Thursday evening...congrats to Lucas and Kendra. I am very happy and glad that they are marrried! My daughter and I have had our rough patches (Hey Kendra...you and I could probably do a entire blog devoted to nothing but mother/daughter conflict.hahaha). Maybe instead of yelling at each other over the phone we should set up a blog and just post our rude thoughts about each other there! Hahahahahah
We are having scheduling conflicts but hope to have reception within 30 days.
Grandchildren: Baby Shower today for the littlest princess in our family....the eldest princess (see wedding update) willl soon have a little princess to train!!!! Eldest Princess is waiting for mother (me) to keel over so she may inherit my title as "Queen". Queen refuses to keel over and will retain her title till she is 120 years old!!!!! Tough Luck Eldest Princess! Grandson Tyson will be at the baby shower today to help celebrate his little sister! I tell you that kid has a sense of humor! I love spending time with him because you never know what is going to come out of his mouth. He cracks me up. He is going to be happy next time he comes to my house because I added a new Ninja Turtle to the toybox and it came with a DVD also.
Nieces: Okay Amber time to get back to Power Hour and congrats on your weight loss. Just remember to keep it healthy! I love you and you are doing awesome...keep working at school. We all know you are brilliant we just wanna see it on paper. Cute story about Abby who is 3 yrs old): When I kept her overnight we went to Boo at the Zoo where we went on the enchanted train ride with assorted nursey rhyme themes to watch. We were at the Little Miss Muffett scene where Miss Muffitt was of course eating her curds and whey...when along came the spider...and landed on her head...sending Ms. Muffitt into spastic fit of fear....when Abby spoke up (making all the people on the train laugh their butts off)..and said "Why didn't she just smash the spider." Now that people is a future STRONG woman!!!!!!
House: Still messy...still don't care
Dental: Feeling better....still grossed out but adapting! Back to the dentist on Tuesday for deep cleaning and who knows what other kind of painful dental torture. FYI: The tooth fairy does not visit woman over 40 so don't bother!
Christmas: Have shopped myself into a Christmas frenzy. I have made a Master Christmas List and have it color coded for gift ideas, gifts purchased, gifts purchased and wrapped. I even have a little Christmas Code Legend at the bottom of my list. I think I have finally gone over the Christmas deep end. No doubt when I do keel over (see Grandchildren update for that timeline), they will find my body amid wrapping paper and bows with my Master Christmas List clutched to my chest in my cold dead knarled up hands.
Thats all for now folks...probably way more then you wanted to read but hey it is 6:15 am on Sunday morning I have no family members or friends that will allow me to call them this early and my newspaper is not here so what else do I have to do????? Whats that??? Did I hear someone say get my big butt out on the road and run..... Hmmm guess it is that time....Bye for now!

SLACKERVILLE
Yes I am a citizen of slackerville. My house is a mess, my filing at home is overflowing my "to be filed basket", my kitchen floor is disgusting, my check book is unbalanced (as I am), my yard is beginning to look like the Munster's yard, and on top of all that I have hit a weight and exercise plateau.
I have decided I need to muster up some major enthusiasm. I think I need some good old fashioned drill sargent to scream in my face to get me moving. I did move a little faster and farther this weekend on my run, when the police officer followed beside me to let me know there were 2 rottweilers running loose and I should take a deter. So I took a one mile deter and that was just to much for my foot and now it is tender. I was only going to do 3 1/2 ended up doing 4 1/2 on account of the vicious dogs. Hmmm that is a thought a drill sargent with vicious dogs NOW that would get me going and probably solve that little plateau problem.
I did successfully manage to stay away from CEREAL this weekend. I swear I am like a junkie when it comes to breakfast cereal. Once I have that first bowl I am thinking about my next "fix". So I have decided to go cold turkey on the cereal. It is just not normal for one woman to eat a jumbo box of Golden Grahams in two days!!! Yeah Kim!!! (not for eating the entire box...but for not eating ANY cereal this weekend)
Engagement Update. My son a/k/a blogger name BIG DADDY, got engaged during his vacation. Oops that does not sound right. He did not find a girl while on vacation and got engaged but rather he took the girl he already had on vacation and proposed to her. Welcome to the family Tasha! You gotta love a girl that does not get shaken when a family member says" I want the flaming head on a stick." (Inside warped family humor...you had to be there).

All I want for Christmas are my two front teeth!
PHRASE OF THE DAY: "Rinse and spit please"
Merry Christmas to me! However, Santa was exteremely generous and supplied me with FOUR new teeth. I must say oral surgery is disgusting...especially if you are awake and get to see him stitch up your mouth with what appears to be fishing line and a hook. I now know how a Trout feels. At any rate I am over and done with that and now only have four quads of deep cleaning and I will be done. I have taken an oath that I will do whatever the dentist requires of me for dental hygiene. The only worry I have is loosing my partial during power hour class and have it skid across the gym floor. The dentist has advised me that that is an irrational fear (one of many) and they are going to stay put and when I get my implants I will be in excellent condition. Thank you thank you to my daughter who was quite kind and took care of her mother while she recovered from her oral surgery. Aside from the remark they made about sneezing my partial out my daughter and husband were quite compassionate oh and also the hysterical laughing about my valium stupor. I fired my husband as my nurse and my daughter's employment as my personal nurse is on shaky ground!!!!!!
Okay enought about the yucky yucky dental stuff.... I am having NO foot pain still and it is awesome. I am going to gradually increase my mileage and if all goes well hope to be back to where I was within 12 weeks or so (6-7 miles). I also need to get off these last 25 pounds but I have to get control of my weekend food to do that and with the holidays coming up it is gonna be tough.
Wedding Update: My daughter will be getting married on November 10, 2005. So I welcome my new son in law to the Family. He is a great guy and I love him like he is my son!!!! And now he will be!!! ACTUALLY he is NICER TO ME THEN MY OWN DAUGHTER HAHAHAAH Is that because they are not married yet? Will that change after they are married and he knows I am stuck with him???HMMM we will see. He has to at least be nice to me till Christmas to get his awesome Christmas gift.
Baby update: My granddaughter is expected to arrive January 12, 2006. A little more then 8 weeks away! I am giddy...I am thrilled...I am joyous....I can't wait till she gets here! No name yet...though I love the name Olivia but I have been voted down...any suggestions???? And this is one lucky baby because she is going to have the most awesome big brother!!!!

I AM BAAAACK
Finally at long last my foot pain has take a leave of absence...permently I hope! Sunday I did 4 miles and today I did 3 1/2 miles (alot less the what I was running preinjury but that's okay)then swam for 45 minutes!!!! NO PAIN. My joy knows no bounds!!! However, the downsize is that I have lost my power of concentration. Every single mile is not physically painfully but it is most certainly mentally painful. I was going to run tomorrow but because the first thought in my head this morning was "Oh my God I am so glad I don't have to run." I decided to punish my traiterous body and make it go whether it liked it or not! I was okay at the end and hope that I can get my mind back in tune with my body. Before my body would give out before my mind...not it is the other way around....I prefer it the other way!!! I hope know one was listening to me this morning because I argued with myself outloud the entire 3 1/2 miles (truely I did...people probably thought I was a nutcase). My mind kept saying stop stop walk and so I called myself a wienie, baby and slacker and advised my mind that it had better shut the heck up or I would really give it something to whine about...perhaps 30 minutes of walking lunges with the body bar or even worse continually seal walking across the gym.
After all this recovery I have a new found respect for my body and now when it says it hurts I will listen to it and not try to push thru pain because I have lost a lot more ground by prolonging the healing then if I would have just given it a rest when it first started.
Tomorrow is my oral surgery day. I am going to the Y to exercise before my surgery then I am coming home and popping a valium and waiting for daughter to pick me up and deliver me to the Den of Pain and Agony. The dentist has prescribed some valium because I am a big baby when it comes to dental work. My plan is to take valium all day tomorrow, Friday, Saturday and Sunday and sleep my way thru the healing process!!!! I told my husband just wake me up long enought to pour some nourishment down my throat and shoot another valium down my throat and I'll be good to go.
Advise for the Day: Don't run and swim in the same day because it will GIVE you a HUGE appetite.

YOU PLAY YOU PAY
Well I am back from my trip to Schaumburg where I did LOTS of Shopping (shopping=lots of walking b/c had no car) and even more DESSERT EATING! I went with my sister because she had to go on a business trip and did not want to go alone. We had a wonderful time!!! I did very good with food till dinner time and then we had a DESSERTS EVERY NIGHT (and they were NOT tiny desserts...they were lumber jack size desserts)...ymmmmmm. However, now as the old saying goes "You play you pay" I am now suffering the consquences of my excessive consumption of desserts. I did 4 miles this morning and thought I was going to DIE ! By the time I hit my home street I thought I was going to hurl all over the place. I was cramping and my head hurt and of course my foot was throbbing. I am a mess and no amount of treadmill work or precor replaces the great outdoors....I don't care what they say! So after I get my oral surgery out of the way on Thursday I am going to work my butt off (and my thighs and my gut etc...) On the upside I believe my foot is on the way to recovery. I still take Naproxen and ice it after using it but the pain has dramatically decreased. I was actually able to make it thru my boot camp class with very little discomfort and that was with running sprints and doing jacks. However, this morning after pounding on it for 4 miles it did throb. My foot is screaming "No more desserts you big pig I can't take anymore weight on me!" So I guess before consuming desserts I should consult all parts of my body not just my stomach.
This has been such a busy week because after I returned from my trip, I kept my grandson and my neices over night friday, where we went out to dinner and to Boo at the Zoo and then came home to watch our favorite Halloween movie Nightmare Before Christmas...they ate LOTS of popcorn and stayed up late. The next morning we got up made Mickey Mouse Pancakes, Eggs and Sausage and orange juice. We then went to the free movie and ate yet more popcorn. Then we came home and played some board games and bingo (for prizes...their favorite). At 3:00 our day together ended and they went home after having a fun time.. and I wasTIRED from our fun time (but I had a great time with some really great kids! I have decided that mothers 40 and older that have young childen must surely take some kind of upper to keep going on a daily basis.

The Amazing Stomach Stretching Woman!
Well Sunday I did 2 1/2 miles and had nothing more then a little tenderness in my foot.! However, I did find that it is difficult to bike after running! I ran and then climbed on my bike thinking "Alrighty this will be a piece of cake" Ha! I could barely make my legs move!!! Monday...went back to power hour, Tuesday did 30 minutes on the precor and lifted, Wedneday swimming....and then spent the rest of the day walking and walking and walking at the Covered Bridge Festival. Probably should have taken today off or at least should have done something lower impact in sympathy for my poor recovering plantar facitis but NO...not me... I decide yes I will run after I lift. I did 3 miles and my foot, while not extremely sore, is much more tender then on Sunday...no doubt from the excessive walking on Wednesday at the Festival and then running on it Thursday. Running was most difficult today as I was not just carting my self around but also several pounds of guilt...see next paragraph for details on guilt pounds! Tomorrow back to Power Hour and Saturday will be my day of rest.
Now back to the covered bridge...there is nothing better then eating and shopping...both of which I overindulged with on Wednesday. My sister, my son's girlfriend and I went together and I had a wonderful time. Oh I ate..how I ate...I ate desserts all day long. I had desserts for breakfast, snack, lunch, dinner and snack again. Now my poor poor stomach is all stretched feeling and it feels bruised and bloated and I swear it has stretched out so much from the amount of desserts I consumed that my stomach is scraping the floor when I walk!. I ate so much that I could not even do the abdominal crunch machine this morning! I will pass out if I see another dessert anytime soon. My sister and Tasha had to take an oath of silenceon how many desserts I can stuff down my throat in an eight hour period. I think I should be showcased in the Ripley's Believe it or Not Museum! I am truly a freak of nature. If you have ever watched Charlotte's Web remember when Templton went to the Fair...well that was me at the Covered Bridge Festival. Except for I can eat like 100 times more then Templton...he was such an amature.
Usually my free food day is Saturday however because of my large consumption of dessserts during our little road trip I have to give up Saturday. Now I will suffer ALL weekend because I have no treats to look forward to and I have to get thru all next week till the NEXT Saturday before Glutenous Kim can come out to play.

High Falootin Woman
Phrase of the Day: "Do you have a stool sample with you?"
Yes I am a high falootin woman and I live a glamerous life......6:30 this morning I was wandering around my yard looking for a fresh stool sample to to take to the vet. Why don't you ever see woman on TV doing this gross stuff? My life is not like desperate housewives. No adultry, deaths, or intrique...just stool samples, dust and dirt.
The vet was just the start of a fun filled day...I must now go to the grocery store to buy my vegatables and fruit, then back to home to battle dirt and grime. I think I may surrender to the dirt and grime because there is NO WAY I am ever going to win!!!! So I should just wave my white flag and sit on my porch and drink lots of coffee.
Tomorrow tomorrow I get to run!!! Hurrah for me!!! I am only going to do 2 miles to make sure I do not blow my foot out!!!! Yesterday I jogged around the gym a little bit during power hour class with no more discomfort then when I walk so guess I am ready to hit it. I am going to tape my arch and support my ankle with an ankle brace. I think 2 Sunday's ago when I did the 4 1/2 miles my foot hurt so badly because: 1) Wore totally the wrong shoes/with NO support, 2) Did not tape my arch up, 3)did not wear my ankle brace 4) took the hillest route I could find (heard hills are hard on a healing plantar facititis)and 4) went too far for my first time out in 2 weeks. By the time I was done on Sunday I could barely walk the pain was so intense. So I am sooooo excited to get out on the road tomorrow. The only bad thing about running on Sundays is that my husband has to poke me awake in church CONSTANTLY. Told him if the Pastor talked louder and maybe yelled into his microphone "Kim in Row 4 WAKE UP YOU HEATHEN" I would stay awake. Well off to my glamerous life....do you think it would have been nicer if I had worn heels and a dress when gathering my stool sample????

A Work in Progress

Well here I am now! A work in progress. I have still have a ways to go but boy do I feel better. I thank all my family for all the support and tolerance (as I have become a tad bit obsessive). Thank you mother for your constant love and encouragement. I thank my Y family for their encouragement as I strive for my fitness goals. I thank the nurse that told me I was a walking stroke...which pushed me onto the path of health recovery. Thank you to Melissa for not killing me the first six months when all I ever did was complain how my lunches. Thank you to Julie at the Y for her constantly reminding me that "Yes you can do it!" She is an awesome fitness leader!!!! Thank you to Mike at the Y for helping me through my first run...A special thank you to my husband for : driving (unknowingly to me) thru all the cross roads on the sleighbell run (my first run) to make sure I did not pass out on the route, learning to eat vegtables with me,giving up his Friday night Pizzas, listening me to rattle on and on about my classes at the Y and my athletic shoes, letting me spend $$$$ on shoes, shoes, shoes, pretending to be interested when I tell him the routes I have run (at least sort of running!), and most of all for just loving me! It is hard work and I could not have made the progress I have without all the love and support from my husband, my mother, my children, my sisters, my neices and all my other family, friends and coworkers!!!
Some of my favorite weight loss phrases : my niece Amber hugged me and said, "Aunt Kim I can get my arms all the way around you." My daughter "Gross Mom I can see your collar bones". My grandson Tyson "You're not as round anymore" Y instructor Julie, "Take it up to jog",

Only 2 more days!
Yeah in 2 days I get to attempt to run again! I promised myself I would do no more than 2 miles then I would bike 6. I can't wait! Did the Precor this morning because I could not spend another day with the unending hunger that swimming gives me. Tuesday I was practically in tears I was so hungry!!! and I ate oh I ate. I started out pretty good...the usually egg beaters/fat free cheese and cottage cheese and baby carrots for breakfast (my standard monday thru Friday Breakfast) for snack I had probably two servings of pretzels and some more baby carrots, for lunch I had a big apple, turkey sandwich on carb control bread, big bowl of cauliflower, celery and red peppers with 2 tablespoons of light ranch dressing, after lunch had a cup of sugar free international coffee, still hungry had some MORE pretzels, then at 3:00 had another apple, then consumed and entire bowl full of sugar free jello, for dinner I had cajun fish (baked)some steamed shrimp with garlic, 1/2 cup mac and cheese, carrots and greenbeans...didn't eat after dinner but sure wanted to... I have decided that swimming is hazardous to my diet and should be banned from my program!
Today I was much more controlled...of course I did not swim!!! However, my sugar took a noise dive today and I barely made it back to my office from my afternoon walk. By the time I got to my office my hands and legs were shaking and I was sweating like a pig (and let me tell you seeing me sweat...it aint pretty...just ask the people at the Y)had to drink and entire can of sprite before the shaking stopped. Blah I think I need to check my sugar more often...quite a change from a year and a half ago when it was way to high!!!
******Warning****** IF A CERTAIN SOMEONE ( I will give you a hint as to her identity...she goes by the name SLUG a/k/a Mother) DOES NOT GO TO THE Y TO EXERCISE WHEN I AM OUT OF TOWN IT WILL BE A FULL 6 MONTHS BEFORE I GO OUT TO LUNCH WITH HER!!!! I WILL GO TO LUNCH at RED LOBSTER AND THEN TELL HER ALL ABOUT THE DELICIOUS COCONUT SHRIMP SHE MISSED OUT ON. I WILL GO TO LUNCH AT PEPES AND PHOTOGRAPH MY DELICIOUS LUNCH AND EMAIL THE PICTURES TO HER TO TORTURE HER. I WILL GO TO PIZZA HUT BUFFETT AND BRING HER BACK AND EMPTY PIZZA BOX THAT REEKS OF PIZZA!!!! I WILL MAKE MEATLOAF DINNERS AND BRING PIECES TO FLAME AND FEED IT TO HIM IN FRONT OF HER....I AM STILL THINKING OF OTHER TORTOROUS THINGS I CAN DO TO HER!!! I think that a mere three hours of exercise is NOT worth six months of torture: 3 hours of exercise v. 4,320 hours of torture...hmm which would you choose..tossing my head back...evil laughter hahahaahahah

blah to swimming
More swimming today! Blah I HATE swimming but I hate not exercising more then I hate swimming. So up and down the pool I went looking pathetic with my little floatation devices! The swimmers are all swimming past me and I felt like the rat in Alice the Wonderland that was swimming in Alice's river of tears. Soon soon I will be on the road.. at least I feverently hope! Ready for another day of swimming tomorrow.

One More Week
One more week and I should be able to hit the pavement again. Got my spiffy new motion control shoes and rigid inserts. Now I am just waiting for some of the bruising to go away and I will be off.... I spent 35 minutes on the Precor and burnt around 450 calories. Good workout I put it in resistance 20 the last 5 minutes to give my calves a nice hard workout and it was like trudging thru kneehigh mud!! What an awesome burn!!!After that I joined the last 45 minutes of power hour class and she burnt our arms out!!! Now I am sore all over...it feels great. I have am so excited to hear about stories of the Chicago Marathon from Susan and Mike. Needless to sayI am green with envy!!! Oh well! I guess since a year and half ago I weighed 289 pounds I should be greatly appreciative that I am now 168 and able to do a 10k on a good day. However, I have NOT had a good day for awhile because of healing fallen arches! It pains me greatly to see runners on the road and I am stuck on the stupid Precor or in the pool. I have determined from seeing many pictures of runners that at 168 I am still to heavy..granted I have increased my muscle mass (my son says my biceps are scary looking) tremendously but I am still struggling because that is still alot of weight to be dragging down the road. So I have determined that I must gain control of my weekend food. I am a compliant diabetic Monday thru Friday but somehow Saturday and Sunday are horrible for me. I ATE an ENTIRE box of Golden Grahams over the weekend!! What a glutton I am. I know if I get my weekend food under control I could get 20 pounds of fairly quickly. So now I am going to focus and buckle down get that weight off and work on my running so I am not turtle slow. I will be working on posting some more pictures of preexercise Kim...
OH and BIG KUDOS TO MY MOTHER FOR HER AWESOME EFFORT AT POWER HOUR this morning...YEAH MOMMY!
Just a Thought: I remember when I first started my weight loss journey that I was just so sick of being referred to as that short heavyset woman..the other day I heard somebody asking about me at the front of the my office and they said "Where is that short lady that sits up front?" What do you think of that??? I lost an adjective!!!

Poor Poor Kim

I have never added a picture before so hope this works. I am sitting on the couch with my mother and the young man is my handsome son Brad! This is not me at my largest but it is the first picture I came across. It is very hard being large. Simple things that people take for granted our difficult. Tying your own shoes...had to put my foot off to the side to tie or put my foot on a chair..turning over in bed, fitting in the seats of the Elliott Hall of Music...etc. My Dad referred to me as BBW which is BIG BEAUTIFUL WOMAN.
Up and Running!
Yep we are up and running...at least my computer is. I am still in a healing process but probably one more week and I am on the road again...Finally! I have had tons of problems with the feet. My arch fell in my right foot and I did nothing to address the issue. Just keept running on it trying to run out the pain. Then of course pain moved into the ankle. I was hobbling around...had to use the POOL and PRECOR blah. Thru a referral from my awesome Y friend I went to a Sporting Goods store on the west side and he told me I was wearing totally the wrong kind of shoes. Which I should have figured out because my foot and ankle were hurting more then ever. I got some nice Brooks with awesome side support and a insert for a rigid arch support. Immediately my ankle was not hurting. However the side of my foot is tender which the salesman said he thought would go away if I rested for a week and ALWAYS wore shoes with my inserts and to NEVER go barefoot. I feel so much better. I have to take a week off and just do Precor and swimming and then I am ready to go out next week. Can't wait because the weather is awesome!!! P.S. My husband will kill me but I bought TWO pair of new running shoes...even though I have two that are less then six weeks old. However, in all fairness I can't wear the other shoes because they kill my feet.
P.S. For all those that think if your feet are really killing you...extra cushioning shoes are not always the answer sometimes they make your feet worse. Salesman said common mistake most new people make!
